custom work worth it?

i have a 94 SL1 SOHC. i was just curious in anyones opinion is it worth doin any mods or custom work to it? i was thinkin bout maybe adding power lock and a big radio and maybe a few other things down the rd. i heard from some people that the car aint that great and the engine aint nothin special. should i just save my money? either way i might put the the big system in if i can ever afford it. tee hee. but are any mods worth it at all in for this car?

I look at my SW1 as basic, functional transport. I replaced the rear speakers with better ones, and that's enough of an radio upgrade for me. Loud enough, with good bass.
If I want to impress some-one, I take them out in my yacht.

nope, id save the money and ditch the motor and trans, and swap in the dohc with trans. probably the best money youd spend on it. pretty much everything under the hood swaps up, and dont forget pcm.

that would be much more worth while then messing with the sohc tbi.

how many poeple would do custom work(radios, aftermarket power locks, alarms) or all major repairs first?

define custom work more. those things you listed i dont define as custom, unless like making enclosures fiberglass work on speakers or whatever.

what you do is fix the problems first, unless its an area where something different/custom will be done. there is no reason to spend money on aftermarket looks and sound, when the car isnt in tune. you will lose so much money that way.
