I got this in my e-mail today and thought that it's usefull info for everyone
STROKE: Remember The 1st Three Steps
http://mypage.uniserve.ca/~kvsbt/scrap/ATT01090.jpg
STROKE IDENTIFICATION:
During a BBQ, a friend stumbled and took a little fall - she assured everyone that she was fine (they offered to call paramedics) and just tripped over a brick because of her new shoes. They got her cleaned up and got her a new plate of food - while she appeared a bit shaken up, Ingrid went about enjoying herself the rest of the evening. Ingrid's husband called later telling everyone that his wife had been taken to the hospital - (at 6:00pm, Ingrid passed away.) She had suffered a stroke at the BBQ. Had they known how to identify the signs of a stroke, perhaps Ingrid would be with us today. Some don't die. They end up in a helpless, hopeless condition instead.
It only takes a minute to read this...
A neurologist says that if he can get to a stroke victim within 3 hours he can totally reverse the effects of a stroke...totally. He said the trick was getting a stroke recognized, diagnosed, and then getting the patient medically cared for within 3 hours, which is tough.
RECOGNIZING A STROKE
Thank God for the sense to remember the "3" steps, STR . Read and Learn!
Sometimes symptoms of a stroke are difficult to identify. Unfortunately, the lack of awareness spells disaster. The stroke victim may suffer severe brain damage when people nearby fail to recognize the symptoms of a stroke.
Now doctors say a bystander can recognize a stroke by asking three simple questions:
S *Ask the individual to SMILE.
T *Ask the person to TALK . to SPEAK A SIMPLE SENTENCE
(Coherently) (i.e. . . It is sunny out today)
R *Ask him or her to RAISE BOTH ARMS.
{NOTE: Another 'sign' of a stroke is this: Ask the person to 'stick' out their tongue... if the tongue is 'crooked', if it goes to one side or the other that is also an indication of a stroke}
If he or she has trouble with ANY ONE of these tasks, call 9-1-1 immediately and describe the symptoms to the dispatcher.
A cardiologist says if everyone who gets this e-mail sends it to 10 people; you can bet that at least one life will be saved.
I've saved it to my web space if you want to just forward the link to people

The phone rang as I was sitting down to my evening meal, and as I answered it I was greeted with "Is this Karl Brummer". Not sounding anything like my name, I asked who is calling. The telemarketer said he was with The Rubber Band Powered Freezer Company or something like that. Then I asked him if he knew Karl personally and why was he calling this number. I then said off to the side, "get some pictures of the body at various angles and the blood smears", I then turned back to the phone and advised the caller that he had entered a murder scene and must stay on the line because we had already traced this call and he would be receiving a summons to testify in this murder case.
I questioned the caller at great length as to his name, address, phone number at home, at work, who he worked for, how he knew the dead guy and could he prove where he had been about one hour before he made this call. The telemarketer was getting very concerned and his answers were given in a shaky voice. I then told him we had located his position and the police were entering the building to take him into custody, at that point I heard the phone fall and the scurrying of his running away.
My wife asked me as I returned to our table why I had tears streaming down my face and so help me, I couldn't tell her for about fifteen minutes. My meal was cold, but it was the best meal in a long, long time.

I believe that your Blazer came with Bilstein.
They're good shocks that last a long time, usually come with a lifetime warranty.
Although they're expensive.
KYB is my choice, but I don't know if they make them for your ride.

Hey, hows things goin over in this area of AF??
I've got a question for ya'll, well, more of asking your opinion on a matter.
Should I fix up my S-10 (body wise) or jsut leave it and attempt to find another vehicle.
It is an 89 4.3L, 4x4, Automatic, Ext cab, Black, and it has cancer. Mechanically, it is great, its got 155,000 miles on it and runs pretty good. Body wise is another issue. I have already replaced the front bumper (junkyard), left headlight assembly, filler panel, fender, inner fender (junkyard) on it from the battle wounds when the old woman turned infront of me, (her fault). I did all the work myself except when I had to get my dad to help get the bumper bracket into the correct position again and weld it up for me. Hes a master with a torch and arc welder, so thats always helpful (well, a master of just about everything in fact). I fitted everything up and painted it myself, and it turned out pretty darn good if I say so myself. Especially for painting it in a dirty shop at 11pm.
This endeavor made the number of body panels without rust up to 3 (hood, filler panel, and front left fender).
What I would like your guy's opinion on is, is it worth it to fix the rest of the rust on it? I really like the body style of these S-10's, plus I'm kinda fond of it and don't really appreciate having the ugly ducking when I get together with friends.
The damage (I'll try to get pics sometime this week when I get home from school and finals are over)
Front right fender: Surface rust where chrome trim is
Doors: Rust on bottom of doors and in center of door, deeper surface rust
Ext Cab: Yea, typical chevy, its rusted out, have patch panel sitting around
Bed: shot to hell, hope to find replacement, thought of new model bed for replacement, but realized the trim lines would be all screwed up.
Top of Cab: Surface rust all over, very light
My hopes for it are a decent looking truck w/o any significant rust issues. I plan on sandblasting the stock steel wheels and painting them black and find another set of chrome trim rings for it. Keeping it stock height. Possibly fabricating myself a fiberglass bed cover for it, have to figure out the hinge issue on that (only thing I havent solved yet).
Interior wise is pretty nice, there aren't any issues in the truck, they are all on the outside. Only thing I might want to do to the interior is replace the seats with late model bucket seats for the extra comfort.
Ideas??
Sorry for the long winded post, but eh, thanks for reading it if you did, if you didn't oh well.

So like i vote hell yes to adding a quart of ATF to the crankcase before the oil change. I added it this morning drove kinda noisier than normal to work then when i came out to go home it now be quiet as can be. No more valvetrain noise, can't wait to drop the oil on Tuesday night and see what kind of sludge it freed up as that was the reason i dropped in the ATF because of heavy sludge buildup. After the oil change and new Castrol GTX oil its going to get a can of 4 cylinder Engine Restore and all should be good in that area.
Side area the universal overflows they sell at Advance Autozone Wal-Mart stay away from them if you can and just find the original. They do not work at all and are to be avoided at all cost. I have now for about the 4th time since Wednesday had a nice puddle of antifreeze under the Cutlass because of pressure, tommorow i am going to reuse the old one it doesnt appear to have any cracks just the cap that rockauto sent was wrong one i think.
Anywho i couldn't find really any info on google about adding the ATF a guy i talk to on AIM who is an old mechanic told me to add it and not to drive more than 400 miles i plan on only really driving 50-75 with it in.
ATF when added to the oil is a detergent that cleans everything up and is suppose to free up the the oil passages and the rocker arms and free any stuck lifters.
Anywho know i goto bed and the offtopic erupted haha, that mike is in the gutter. I worked so much yesterday and today i dont even know.

An old-time pro mechanic I know always ran a quart of ATF in his crankcase all the time. That was his lubricant of choice. His engines were always spotless on the inside.

Well sorry to say I didn't take any pic's yesterday.
I couldn't see any natural beauty with her around, and sure couldn't be inspired with the camara.
She's the most depressing person that I've ever met.
I gave her a pretty good idea that I don't want to see her again. Plus I told her the truth that I'm moving away pretty soon, and couldn't believe that she gave me the hint that she would like to join me.
It really couldn't work. I like a clean place and she's a pig. I would blow up at her within a week. That's 1 thing that I hate doing.
I'm probably taking wensday off to take a hike on my own, and I'm hoping that I can take some more pic's then

hahah stu maybe she needs more makeup. au-natural not working for her? Depressing, i guess you mean by her outlook on things. that can make a person seem quite ugly. Give her some sweet Stu lovin and depresssing state may go away, still got those paper bags.
In the time i've been talking to you on here, you really don't seem like the type to blow up at someone, but then again i don't think anyone here has really tried to push anyone's buttons lately.

*edit* No its not a Blazer, but :flipa:if the truck is something you plan on keeping for a while its worth it. you said that the motor is in great shape. you've already started replacing some of the body, i'd keep the truck fix it up, and hopefully save for something down the road.

Well I do know of 1 thread that got deleted last weekend on either this forum or the S10 forum. DM and I were both telling the person what was right and not what he wanted to hear, and he was getting upset at it.
But in general I don't loose it (and I never then, I can only assume that it got intresting after I went away for my weekend job)
but I'm pretty sure that I would if I lived with a pig. (sorry to any not so neat people reading this, but trust me on this your cleaner than her)
The first thing that she had to do yesterday was run and se an alcohlic friend of hers, whom I refused to see and then she had to say that all he can talk about is suicide.
And it was my only day off in almost a month.
I sure don't need or want someone like that in my life.
Oh Well, It's over with, and I have to run to work
Later then
