It seems that everyone smokes their tails or reddens their tails by painting the outside. I think it would look sweet to crack those babies open and paint the inside of the lens'. How hard would that be?

I've thought about that before, and its just easier to paint them on the outside. The problem with painting the inside is that if you have over-spray you're fucked and I'm pretty sure having to sandpaper the inside would be a big hassle.

Over-spray? Thats why you use masking tape. :icon16:

If you painted the inside you wouldn't be able to see it since the lenses are not clear...

Well I meant over-spray as in spraying too much paint in one spot so that you see bloctches when the lights come on inside the housing.

Ok so after alot of thinking i decided to go with these, only because..no offence to you treefrog i only think the painted center piece looked good if my car was black...but i found these, and these Altezza's don't really look like most Altezza's and i thought they would look sweet on my car..

I donno, I just don't care for them having so much black in em. The ones I had found had a lot more red in them and appeared to be closer to stock appearing taillights than aftermarket ones... I donno, I just prefer things to look like it came from the factory and wasn't put on afterwards... I mean, the ones you picked out are fine and nicer than any altezzas out there. I just don't particularly care for them... They are pretty close to the ones I like, just not the right color for me I guess. lol

Ok well i got my LEDs today but BOTH of them were damaged in shipping. So i get to wait about 2 weeks for them to get the lights back and then send me new ones. Looks like you guys will have to wait longer for pics.

I actually met Jake from here last saturday and sold him some racing seats, he asked if i had a hemi, of course i do, then he made the comment about all my "HEMI" badges being gone. Gotta love the sleeper look.

Thats pretty crazy. Im guessing Austin is a smaller town? Not sure if i've heard of it before. Im only about 15-20 minutes north of st paul.

ever hear of hormel? Well corprate is based out of Austin, population 29k so its not huge and personally were a little close to Iowa for my taste

So I finally installed the tail lights today, this is what they look like

Do they look better without the center piece or you think i should put the center light in there?

ps. sorry bout the bad pic. it kinda got dark out and i though my digi camara was better at pics then this

personally I like the stockers better but they dont look bad. I would leave the stock center piece in there to avoid the ufo look

I think it would look really good with the lenses painted red. Just get some Testors Transparent Candy Red, some wet sandpaper, and some clearcoat if you want. It looks really good when you're done. Just like newer cars like the G35.

Well the stock taillights that are transparent red like the G35 are just chrome housings with red lenses. If you paint chrome altezzas with trans. red it will look exactly the same. Remember to make it shinny though by wetsanding it.

another reason i decided to go with the second was cause on the "S" and the "E" the chrome is begining to chip, that and i want to sell the whole set (Left, Center, Right) and try to get some money back

It'd look nice if you took off the emblems on the center peice and color matched it. But good luck getting anything over $100 the OEM tails.

I don't care for regular altezza's either, but with the red candy over them they look almost stock, and I like the circles at night better than the large glow our cars have stock. So I will have to look into the process some more. Plus get a little extra money.;)

I like the second pic better personally. In the first one it just looks to broken up or something.

I'm planning on getting an LED array out of some stock taillights from like a G35, M45, Rav-4, new Accord, Cadillac, Mercury Montego, etc and molding them into a set of chrome altezzas and painting the lens red. So it would basically be like G35 lights in Eclipse housings.

I am also a big fan of the stock tail lights I think they look better than anything aftermarket. The only thing that compares was this which some of you guys remember
