666, you may be on to something. Hey, can somebody get a patent?

does anyone actually have a turboed camaro on this camaro forum?
i just want to know because i personally think it would stomp the shit out of anything, honestly. ive seen one at the track before that was a DD and it ran high 11's to mid 12's consistantly, with street radials.

i have infinite knowledge on turbo parts, or what you would need to turbo a vehicle since i have already done so, if anyone needs help doing it, just pm me sometime, i think a turboed camaro would be bad ass.
i think strykerss has a turbocharged 4th gen, its pretty dam sweet

I just wanted to pop in and clairify a few things. for 1. i dont have a camaro, i have a cavalier 2.3l which is a fair 150hp n/a. not bad for a 4cy. 2 the only reason why i backed the guy on this forum who origionally thought about the electric motor induction is because i didnt know if anybody tried it, i just thought it would be cool if someone did. 3rd i know it wouldnt work, or at least not near what a turbo could dish out. of course your looking for compression and not faster air which is really all your doing with the electric motor, but for someone like me who doesnt want to drop $120 for a steel tube with a conical air filter on the end but has an old cannister vaccum, ac/dc converter, and variable resistor switch (to match the fuel coming in via the throttle cable) then let the image happen. truthfully if it's 5 hp it's 5 hp. remember it doesnt matter if someone wins by an inch or a mile, they still won (please dont call me a ricer, yes i am aware that line was from ff.. god i hate hondas with fart pipes...) funny thing is though i would never put a leaf blower on my intake because the filter couldnt work properly and the nasties would kill my engine.. not a good thing. well l8r everyone

all the leaf blower does is a rube golberg of forced air induction....... granted, it will put more air into the cylinders, but there is only so much uncompressed air the engine can handle..... the turbo uses compression to fit more oxygen into the same amount of space as uncompressed air. you're looking for more oxygen, not just air.........
erm....a turbo is simply a fan that pumps air, a leaf blower is also a fan that pumps air.
The only difference is that a turbo has access to a lot more shaft horsepower [the turbine] to spin the fan [the compressor wheel] than the average electric leaf blower, and so can flow a lot more cfm at a much higher psi than any leaf blower.
Any time a 'fan' is trying to flow more air than the motor is drawing, the intake manifold air pressure goes up = more air in the cylinders + more fuel = more horspower.
Both work on compression of air.

But your absolutey right about the 'rube goldberg' effect!!
Besides, you would need about a 100 amp alternator to run the thing for any length of time and would only have a small benefit on motors of less than 2 litres capacity.

a turbos power is measured in psi, not cfm........ a leaf blower doesnt compress the air nearly as much as a turbo....... leaf blowers compressors aren't really compressors more like fans....... just move air at a higher rate..... a trubos compressor compresses the air it takes in.........

Ok first you can’t build an electric turbo because turbos work by having one turbine spun by exhaust gases, which spins a shaft, which spins another turbine, which compresses air going in to the engine. Turbos are powered by exhaust gases that’s what makes them turbos.

Second there are real electric superchargers out there and I don’t mean this:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Electric-Supercharger-TURBO-RSX-Integra-VTEC-Honda_W0QQitemZ8050117243QQcategoryZ33742QQrdZ1QQc mdZViewItem

I mean this:
http://www.turbomagazine.com/tech/0406tur_knight/

The fact that even it has limited performance compared to a belt driven supercharger should prove that a shop vac is a complete waste time and money. If you want to make your car fast without spending much money get a Nitrous kit.

not quite true, look at a compressor map for any turbo, one of the axis is horsepower or cfm or lb/min. horsepower = cfm = lb/min airflow
eg http://www.m-p-c.com/turbomap.htm

leaf blowers compressors aren't really compressors more like fans

I understand what you saying, but the fact is that air will only move when there is a pressure difference. The only reason a turbo set to produce [in this example] 15 psi produces that pressure is because its trying to move twice as much air as what the engine wants at any particular rpm under naturally aspirated conditions. The only way it can do that is by doubling the manifold pressure from 1atm absolute to 2atm absolute = 15 psi boost [approx].
If you could disconnect the outlet from a compressor from the outlet pipe, the pressure would drop to near zero but at near twice the cfm.

...who are you people?

Here is a revised version of a existing saying

"Winning a race with a leaf blower is like winning the special olympics, even if you win your still retarded."

Oh and just to be technical and annoying...a shop vac or leaf blower would be considered more of a supercharger instead of a turbo....but im just bored as crap and have nothing to do with my time but point stupid stuff....

on a serious note....paxton is/was putting out electric motor driven superchargers which I think is pretty cool....

Some kids acutally dynoed a leaf blower on a newer Civic Si. They got like 10hp. I guess its possible to make your own 'turbo' contraption, but it would be more of a hassle than just buying a real one...

ok... so let me get this straight... a leaf blower, which uses an electric fan to take staionary air and move it at a somewhat high velocity, is like a ramjet, which has no moving parts and uses high velocity air as a compressing agent to be ignited and produce thrust? ok. the similarities are uncanny

just rig up some kind of air compresser to run off the car's pulley, or turn the smog pump into the intake, lol. Or get a big air holding tank and put it in the trunk of your car and run a hose to your intake and paint the tank like a huge bottel of nos, lol. That is some rice there.

Girls, girls, girls!!! LMMFAO!! WTF??? I take off a half a day and it becomes like a bad period bitchy day fest in here....

We ALL know, AND IT IS A LAW OF PHYSICS, that if you give Earl the cookies Rally was supposed to get, strap him on the hood, and run a tube from his ass to the intake... you be pushing at LEAST 1500 HP from the methane he would produce which would flow of a constant rate (minimum) of 238 PSI for approximately 35 minutes per cookie. Forget turbo-chargers, supercharges (roots style or centrifugal), NOS, leaf blowers, blow jobs, etc. FARTS, specifically DOG FARTS are the key to the ultimate in horse power. And if you REALLY want some kick ass, blow up the world power, let my 2 year old feed him a bag of snausages after he eats Rally's cookies. SR71? that sumbich would look like a glob of snot running down a piece of 80 grit sandpaper on an early Michigan January morning compared to the Earl-minator equipped Maro.

A Ram Jet works like a Ram Air setup on a car. The vehicle’s speed pushes air into the intake. So putting a leaf blower on a car would not make in like the SR71. It would make it a car with a weak to the point of being useless electric supercharger.
