Should I Buy A PT Cruiser

My wife is selling her 98 passat wagon. She wants a new 'more fun' car. She is set on the PT w/ the drop top. We had a lot of problems with her vw, and don't want a repeat. Is this a car she could purchase used with less than 25000 milles and expect a reliable comfortable car? We do lots of cross country driving, is the car noisy on the highway? Some of these answer we will get when we test drive one, but I figured some people here could tell me what its like after a having driven the car for a while. Thanks, any input is appreciated.
