Great finish!! And also great color! I think I'll paint mine that same color (when I build it someday), I like greens and this one is beautiful.

I also agree on the 3rd brake light, could you tell us exactly which 3M tape (code) did you use?, I once saw one and wanted to use it for the same application, but it was too thick so I discarded the idea.

Thanks for sharing

Will do- in the next set of pics, I'll include some of the reflective tape. It is a bit thick, but not so much that it looks out of scale. The kit decal is applied into a recessed area on the lid edge- whick is perfect for the tape thickness.

Glad you all like the body colour. I'll have to take some sunlit pics to show it off properly!

Well, I am now (actually since Christmas) the owner of the uber-common hartop version of this kit, and plan to build it sometime in the next 65 years. As usual, I aspire to your level of cleanness (without a lathe, I can't really aspire to your level of detail). Could you tell us where you got the mesh? I have been looking for mesh like this for numerous kits.

Well, I'm lucky enough to have a funky little LHS that's totally useless for finding decent kits, but they often have an intriguing and esoteric collection of odd detailing supplies. They just happened to carry K&S PE screens. Do an online search and I'm sure you'll find a souce. Hobbylinc (Georgia) (http://www.hobbylinc.com/prods/ra_k+s.htm) carries them, but unfortunately only in three sheet packs- one sheet will likely last me a decade or so. One of the patterns they make is perfect for the Challenge mesh rear grilles on 360s or 430s.

Almost there!

Here (finally!) is the engine and chassis, completed.

The rear dampers, exhaust tips, and other assorted odds and ends are mounted.

http://i211.photobucket.com/albums/bb112/andrejmiller/360-085.jpg

Ready for wheels.

http://i211.photobucket.com/albums/bb112/andrejmiller/360-086.jpg

I liked the stock kit wheels well enough, but I certainly wasn't going to leave them chromed. They were stripped in simple green, and painted in MM Metalizer steel, to give it the brushed alloy look Ferrari does it's stock wheels in. To do the bolts, each was carefully painted in MM Acryl gloss black, and then brush panted with Alclad chrome. There's just enough contrast to show off the chromed bolt heads.

Ready for the body now!

http://i211.photobucket.com/albums/bb112/andrejmiller/360-088.jpg

The reflective tape I used was in fact Scotchbrite, not 3M- but I will get some pics of it in the next batch of pics.

More soon. :sunglasse

All right then- by popular demand, here she is....

http://i211.photobucket.com/albums/bb112/andrejmiller/360-091.jpg

I've been having a hell of a time photographing this build.:cya: :banghead:  The paint just seems to suck up every availible photon of light- I take it outside and even the sun shines a bit less brightly. :dunno: These are the best I've been able to do inside. Soon as I get some decent ones outside, I'll post it in completed- cuz it's done!

http://i211.photobucket.com/albums/bb112/andrejmiller/360-097.jpg

http://i211.photobucket.com/albums/bb112/andrejmiller/360-096.jpg

Here's the Scotchbrite tape I used for the third brakelight.

http://i211.photobucket.com/albums/bb112/andrejmiller/360-089.jpg

It has a little bit of thickness to it, but it fits nicely in the recess for the decal. The edges look white (it's actually the reflective bits in the tape), but when it's stuck in place a little black wash hides the edge very nicely.

Superb work Andy. Not sure about the color, it would look good on 456GT, but on the spider?.... But that's just me. The detail is awesome and that is one clean build. Congrats!

Finally!!! Congrats first Andy! Really top notch and sensational details there. Green is not such an active color in the pics but I'm sure it will look gorgeous in naked eye, dosen't it Andy?

It certainly does suck in the light!! I opened this thread and there was an eclipse of the sun over Warsaw!

Great job Mr. M - I like the green/silver combo very much and as for the finish and detailing well.... you know what I think :)

Absolutely GORGEOUS!!

I do like the color combination, congratulations on finishing it!

Just a little comment: is it only my appreciation or the left rear wheel is a little out of the car?

Congrats!!

Yeah, you're not the only one who noticed that. When Steveski pointed it out, I pushed the wheel in so that it was flush against the brake hub- turns out the stem just wasn't seated far enough into the polycap. (Wonder why I didn't see it before?) It's corrected in the outdoor pics.
