imrc replacement
on the hill

Hello again and thanks for all the help in the past.
I need to replace the imrc on my 96 Windstar 3.8l V-6. It is the one that is installed closest to the radiator that I need to replace. Is this designated as the right or left imrc?
The reason is that I found the parts on line for a considerably cheaper price than the dealer but I need to know the proper designation. Part number F65Z-9S514-DA is called the left side. Part number F65Z-9S514-CC is called the right side.
Thanks in advance for any reply.

I believe the one closest to the radiator reaches back and operates the other side (the right side) of the engine. So I would think it should be listed as the "right" side operator.
Sometimes these sorts of things get mis-named, so there ain't no bet from me. It could be named based on where it's mounted ... that would make it a "left" unit.
Do some searching on this forum ... someone has already posted this info, I just don't remember what the outcome was.

Hi there,
as per hayes manual for 98 ford windstar(i dont have 96),right is rear(called firewall side by the dealers)and left is front (called rad [radiator] side).
besides best way is to call 3 different dealers and make sure the part numbers for left and right.
but i am preety sure what i am writting is right
thank you.

For what it is worth.....
They call the Front of the windstar engine the left side as this would be on the left (driver's) side if the engine were mounted in the rear wheel drive configuration.
Same reason that they call the timing cover the "front cover" as it would be in the front in a rear wheel drive configuration.
Also, another trivia item.....there is a rear wheel drive version of the 3.8L engine (not in a windstar application), but not all parts are identical....so use care when trying to cross reference parts.
