I'm toying with the idea of installing an STS turbo system, the rear mounted turbo. They don't make them for third gens, just 4th gens. But after looking at the install it should work and install the same in a third gen, just have to fab up some brackets and possibly route the pipe to the engine a little differently in the engine compartment. If it will get me an extra 100hp I would consider it a good deal.

Oh, the 3rd and 4th gens were within a couple pounds of each other in curb weight. I'm running a little lighter with alumnium heads, no A/C (never had it), headers in place of iron manifolds. I figure I'm about 75lbs lighter than stock and can easily shed another 100 lbs.

Better be much lighter than me.
Looking for 500 at the wheels with mine. :evillol:
You might want to look up a buddy of mine, he just got his Procharger equipped GTO dyno tuned...482 RWHP...I'm gunnin for him myself.

Peak numbers and dyno queens don't mean shit... as proven earlier in this thread ;)

that may be peak put i bet that procharger give ample power under that.

Right but dyno tuning wasnt his best bet if he was concerned more about the entire powerband rather than peak numbers

Dyno tuning is the ONLY way to get your tune nailed down. He picked up 100hp after the dyno tune, on top of the tune provided BDS.

Its done with the first round but I am charging her and I want to finally get that hood on but the hood prep work is all done. Just need to get some blue paint on her now. My car is somewhere around the 500 mark but come late April- early May should be around the 700 mark.

Yeah , she got expensive forged internals to go with her 4 bolt main corvette block. I made a thread about that a while ago. I am thinking of going with powerdyne cause you stole my paxton you whore :banghead: . I am looking for one of the less expensive chargers and will fab up the plate and shit being as I have a ton more mounting options than a stock LT1, being that everything that is normally mounted on the driver side of the block is not there in my case.

Sorry about that John. I saw it and figure it, along with the cam, some porting of the heads and intake, along with some tuning, i'll get the good bump i'm looking for with the 305. All gonna be done while in school (free dyno time and tune, and help and labor is free too). Damn, i guess I'm whoring fool!!!

Edit - skipped page 6, this is in reply to Morley the tool's post at the bottom of page 5.

Nailed down?!?! If you don't care about driveability or anything but dyno numbers. Street and strip tuning is by far the most effective in terms of maximizing the potential and getting lower times, unless again all he cares about is dyno numbers. I don't know where you get your information from but I guess the logic fairy skipped right over you.

Look, mouth breather, since you've obviously never been to a dyno, take a lesson. Dyno tuning an EFI engine isn't about seeing how much peak power you can make, it is about TUNING the engine. That means AFR tuning across the whole RPM spectrum, which, pea brain, means at all loads and this means DRIVEABILITY...who woulda thunk!
Back to picking your ass for dinner.
Little snot nosed punks like yourself need to shut up and listen more instead of shooting off your mouth.

Oh, does your car even go fast enough to get TO the track?

Been to dyno days at one of the leading LS1 shops, TTPerformance.

AFR tuning across the whole RPM spectrum... achieved via HPTuners with wideband o2 readings, while either on the road or at the track. Why do you need a dyno there?

There's a lot more to tuning than AFR... how about spark/timing, RPM limits, tranny adjustment, shift points...

The dyno rollers aren't asphault, buddy.

Here's the bottom line...

For 99% of the dynos out there right now it should mainly be used for final adjustments to a/f & timing; thats about all its good for in the end.

How does a dyno help you with idle tuning?

How are shift points adjusted on a dyno when runs are only made in 1 gear?

You can nail AFR better with street tuning, since especially dynojets dont represent real world loading... load bearing dynos are great though, and you can do alot of shit on them
