my 99 3.8 intrigue will shut off while driving without warning. I can shift to nuetral and restart then shift back sometimes. Other times i have to pull over and wait a few seconds. The rpms will jump a little sometimes before it happens. Codes are supposedly okay according to 3 GM dealers and 2 independant shops who can't get the problem to happen for them.
This happens 2 or 3 times a week and sometimes 2 or 3 times in a day. Also when I start the car I have to kepp trying because It doesn't start the first time. No engaging or noise from the engine. It just turns over like a dead battery issue. Battery and alt are good though.

Welcome to AF!!
Change the crank position sensor and the issue should go away. Stalling is a common symptom of the CPS going bad and it will usually not throw a light or code in the early stages that is why the techs can't get a code from the computer. This is a common problem on these engines and easy to solve with a replacement.

are you sure it's a 1999 with the 3.8? Last year for the 3.8 Intrigue was 1998.
The 3.8 doesn't have a CKP sensor?

The engine says 3800 series II, not 3.8 (are they not the same). My bad, but the car is a 1999, checked both the registration and owners manual.

UPDATE
I just did a VIN check and it comes back as a 1999 Intrigue GL 3.8L V6 MFI.
Another thing is that it seems to shut off more frequently when its humid or wet out.

Yes, the 3.8's have crankshaft position sensors and they can go bad just as those in the 3.5 or any other gm v6 for that matter.

I had the same problem on 99 3.8. It was the Mass Air Flow sensor.
