The engine is running too rich, possibly from the fuel injector leaking. The oil level being overfull is likely due to unburned fuel leaking by the rings, diluting the oil and removing the oils ability to lubricate the engine. It's best not to run the engine or serious damage can occur. Locate and repair the rich running problem, then change the oil and filter. What is the eighth character in the VIN? It will either be a "W" which indicates Central Multiport Fuel Injection, or a "Z" which indicates it has Throttle Body Injection. With that information, we can help with diagnosis.

did you check for trouble codes? sounds like a fuel injection problem , especialy with the oil over limit problem but double check to see if you have trouble codes. Chris sent me this check for spider problems: " you need to open the intake plenum and see which side has a fuel puddle. Driver's side would be the fuel lines and the passenger side would be a bad CPI regulator."

this link shows how to remove the intake:

Had the same prob with my 94, found out it was the fuel supply and return line in the intake. I took the lines out of a blazer 4.3 and its been working fine. what I could find out is the lines dried out and split and shot fuel inside the intake and it run into the oil. Hope this helps:smokin:

When you have the plenum off start the fuel pump, use the jumper at the diagnostic terminal or have someone turn on the key. Watch the fuel pressure regulator, there is a small vent whole, if you see fuel leaking replaces the regulator. The regulator will not pull a code. Work for me.

Thanks voyager108,

Seems like there was another indication.
If the area near the regulator, passenger side, was real clean, the regulator is a leaker.
If the area on the driver's side was clean, one of the fuel lines is a leaker.

LOL Chris, you've really got to pay more attention. This thread is over 5 years old.

I really didn't want to bring up your senility yet since I just walked in and I'm wondering why I came here.
