AF meet

I know this has been discussed before but I think we should actually do something about it. I think we should have a meet for the dsm section of af. The problem is where. My suggestion is somewhere in the mid west just because its going to be a central location for everyone.

Ya, I agree. But, location would be a problem for everyone. If anything, the meet should be during the summer so people who still go to school/college would be out and could take like a week off of work or something.

I agree about the location, thats why I think it should be as centralized as possible so everyone has about the same amount of a drive. I would suggest either summer or a major break, e.i. spring break or something like that

But still, for us East Coasters, most of those places in the poll are definately middle to west coast. Plus, it would be nice to have it at a place where there is a track that could be rented out for the day or whatever.

i live in boston so none of those are close

Those are all a bit of a hike for me but I'd love to do it. Over the summer would definitely be the best time. Maybe mid July or something? I'd make a trip out of it.

well I know there is a really good track in Cedar Falls Iowa. If any of you watch Pinks on the speed channel you probably have seen it on the first episode. And I know there is alot of action in Lincoln surprisingly, but I'm really no much into the illegal street racing. Anyone else know of any good tracks?

I know that on Pinks, they go to a track in Orlando a lot.

about 12 miles north of the Iowa border, 2 hours south of minneapolis, and 40 miles west of Rochester Mn if you know where any of those places are.

yeah i have an idea of where it is. just asking cause my hometown is 10 miles from the minnesota border, but it's also a 1/2 hr from canada, way up in the northeast corner.

and i'm with ya on the actually meeting somewhere thing.

OK, I'm all the way on the east coast border....we need a place in the middle or close to the middle of the USA so everyone has kinda a equal trip to make. I'm defiantly in for it over the summer.

i'd be willing to drive to brainerd to go to the track, i've been to the drags there before a few times. it'd be sort of fun to run down the same track as john force :grinyes:

we could do what I think THor said, do it region, there is a lot of DSMers here in the Chicago land area, and I am sure alot in Iowa and Minn, maybe Wisc, but no one likes them... lol meh... it'd be nice to see someone organize this.

I hear you man, I'd love to see this happen just as much as you. I would second cruchy's vote of Texas. I have an aunt that lives there, so my parent's would most likely be ok with that hah.

I have family in pheniox so that might be a possibility. only about a 850 mile drive from austin to dallas/ft. worth

Yeah...east side represent. I like the idea of a regional thing, but there is something to be said for a huge cross-country event. In a perfect world, I would hope we could all show up with our cars but the vibe I'm getting, it's more of a social thing. I already know what everyone has anyway :). I say we find a place that the most people can drive to AND is a major location for people who have to fly.

What about the idea of a new subforum for "Regional Meets?" People who want to host a DSM gathering can post dates and locations and check the response.

Along those lines, I'd be up for a north eastern gathering...

what about like a yearly or bi-yearly national meet and then having smaller regional meets maybe once a month during the summer or something

I am in NY near the PA border and I hope to have another DSM by spring time so I'm all for making a trip to anywhere as long as I'm not going anywhere past Colorado or as far south as FL.

only half the people would make it cause the other half's cars would break down. we'd have to have a whole fleet of towtrucks on call. :rofl:

I'm in South Carolina like 30 min from the Georgia line I'm up to travel a distance if necessary, I'd like to meet with people in the west coast to not just the east.

Hell yeah, I know my way around that town some too. My best friend goes to UC down there and its only like 5 hour drive for me. 3 if I go fast enough. lol :wink:


Oh yeah, you guys could use the old "dsm chat" that aim hosts and meet in there for a group discussion about it.

Ft. Lauderdale is maybe bout 45min-1 hour away from me.

That means were only about 8-10 hours away.

If that sounds like a decent place to meet I could get more information. There is no way in hell I think I could manage to drive all the way out to the west coast. I would either 1. Get lost 2. Break down. 3 Spend all my money getting there

i wouldn't trust either of my dsm's to drive across the country

For me it is a little different. My car lets me down (bad clutch, throttle stuck wide open, IC pipes blowing off, etc.)and right after the incident I have such little trust in my car. But, after awhile I start getting more confident in my car. Then, at about the high point, something goes wrong again. Right now I'm at about the high point...wish me luck.
