looks like AFI 05's camaro.
thats an odd shade.. maybe its blue but looks that green color cause of the quality of the pic like the guy said..
post up the VIN # so we can determine what motor you most likely have. if the 8th digit is an "8" , you have a 5.7L TPI (looks like my motor in my sig) if the 8th digit is "F", you have a 5.0L TPI motor (also looks like the motor in my sig).. :screwy:

guys i read on another forums that since this car as t-tops that the frame will twist easier when drag racing it...is this true?
AFI 05
02-15-2006, 11:12 PM
in stock form, definately, body is vulnerable.. BUT there are braces and suspension mods and all these goodies that will make it really, really firm.
x_skaven_x
02-15-2006, 11:14 PM
so i should wait to put those braces on before i drag it...how hard are these braces to put on? I dont have to rip the car apart now do i?

put them on as soon as you get the money and time, it is a good upgrade, alot stifer frame to. some of them are ajustable and the other are made just for the car, so it will not be to hard.

all you need is a way to lift up the car.. im not sure whether you bolt or weld sub frame connectors and such things though.

Definitely get some sub frame connectors. My 87 IROC is also a t-topped car, and flex is a big issue. Just got my connectors from spohn performance last night. Can't wait to put them on. You can get either weld or bolt on, but most perfer weld ins.

If it's a stock lt1 I don't think it would be a necessity to have SFCs for racing, although it would help a great deal. I would recommend Sphon for third gens because they have good ground clearance, strength, and mounting points. Also don't pay more to have them painted cause it'll come off when you welded them in, if you go that route.

Exactly what i did Nate. They want $50 more dollars for the paint, and since the damn things gonna be under the car, they're never really gonna be seen by the eye often. And your right, the paint will come of eventually, being under the car and all, especially if you drive in all elements.

It's a corrosion inhibiting paint that you can Paint Over Rust and be done for years.
Even holds up to brake fluid too.
Basically it's rustoleum with balls.

Brake fluid is some strong shit.

02-16-2006, 12:21 PM

Oh yeah Wrightz28, where can i get some of this stuff from?
wrightz28
02-16-2006, 12:43 PM
I think I've seen it available at regular paint suppliers. I know we ususally just get auto paint supplies form a vendor that goes to all the swap meets 'cuz he's a nice guy and priced fair.
wrightz28
02-16-2006, 12:44 PM
And there are some knock off brands out there that arent' too shappy either. I got tired of sanding my Crapice i had and primered it with the stuff worked pretty good.

02-16-2006, 10:46 PM
so this stuff is regular paint? An i just put it down on my car? I dont understand lol

Yeah talk him down a bit, tell him that it has a TPI and not an LT1 and that Lt1s are worth more..
Since he isnt a car buff he wont know the difference and will think that the car is worth way less..
