97 Sable oil light

Has anyone had a problem with the oil light flickering on a 97 sable?

I have had my oil light flicker when the oil pressure was low.

Have you checked your oil fluid level with the car on a level surface?
Measure it in the morning when it's still cold. When was the last time you have had an oil change?
On vehicles that I have serviced and replaced the oil pump, the dipstick was not acurately measuring the fluid level because the bottom of the oil pan was just full of crud. Oil that suffered black death. It happens when the oil has reached it's limit and oil not changed and due to extreme pressures and heat they turn into black gunk and would start to plug up your oil pump and cause low oil pressure or no oil pressure at all.
Before I took the oil pan off, the dipstick would show that it's within the xxxx mark on the oil dipstick. After removing the oil pan and the black gunk, the dipstick was show low. The technician that changes their oil always mention that they don't have to put the recommended # of quarts for their oil because it was going over the xxx on the dipstick. The reason behind that is that the oil level raised up a bit because the bottom of the oil pan is full of black hardened gunk. I cleaned the oil pan and replaced the oil pan and now the vehicle is using the recommended # of quarts of oil.
