Going to do a tune up on my Impala (2002) with 60,000.
I just wanted to know what Brand name stuff should I get? I have read here before that Frame is not good for an oil filter. Is this true? What should I use?
I'm only getting an Air filter, Oil fitler, pcv valve (I think it has one), Fuel fitler. I'm I missing anything? So what brand should I get?????? I'm not looking for High pro. stuff like K&N or anything.. I talking about frame, stp, and some of the others..
Thanks

Really then, there is no reason not to use AC Delco if you don't need or want up market snake oil products, PVC should be ok at 60,000 mi. and a little early for fuel filter too in my opinion. remove air duct to TB and clean TB and butterfly real well, I use WD 40/papertowels for cleaning. If changing plugs AC 41-101 are correct/best 5.99 ea at most Auto parts centers, and if you have access to plug wire puller it will prevent wire separation especially on the back plugs. You get at the back side plugs without trying to move engine forward as some here have tried or suggested (this engine is not designed to do so) Yea it's a bit tough but you can do it, but if you don't have a miss why mess with em? titanium plugs good for 100K. You didn't mention if 3400 or 3800 engine just assumed here that it was 3400.

Right.. I just thought for about $3.00 for a PCV and 5-6 for a fuel fitler. I should do it while I'm getting dirty...
Thanks for the info on the other stuff.....

There are alot of reasons not to use AC Delco. I've had good luck with aftermarket products from Fram, STP, Purolator, and others. There is no proof AC Delco parts are superior to any aftermarket product. As a matter of fact other companies make a lot of AC Delco parts and just put their name on the product. For example the 41-101 Iridium spark plugs were made by NGK. Autolite made many of the platinum AC Delco spark plugs. Same is applicable to the filters. Why pay top dollar for AC Delco stuff.
It was bad enough getting a GM car and now I should buy their products to help keep them afloat. I don't think so. Just my two cents. :2cents:

well it HAS been proven that the stock GM products like the plugs, wires, coils, etc... are the best option that you have for the car. many companies have tested this and when they make there high HP cars, they still use the stock coil packs and stock wires. they have been proven to have less % of failures compared to any aftermarket parts. they have a awesome temp rating and almost 0 failure rate. even the coils, some people think they shuld get MSD, but no one does really, the stock coils are better then the MSD coils. same goes for the plug wires, more people have had problems when they change to aftermarket then before they did.
so there is no reason to not use them.
oh, and there is no interval for changing the fuel filter, just to change it when you suspect its plugged. 60,000 doesnt sound too high for me, its a $6 part and an easy job, I changed mine at like 35,000.
and for the PCV valve, the interval is 30,000, its ilke a $3 part and a 5 min fix.
Air filter - it depends on what you want, just a replacement one, or a K&N replcement one, the K&N will help air flow better and you'll get a little more power...very little, but still something. and while your doing that you might want to gut the air box while your at it, then you will be an increase in power, plus a nice throaty sound from your exhaust.
for oil filter I use mobil, otherwise fram SUCKS. fram anything sucks, in autoshop class they cut apart a fram oil filter and it was basically carboard inside, that was what it used to filter the oil. so if you feel comfortable with using carboard to filter you oil, go ahead. but I would stick iwth either mobil or bosch, or the AC delco. I personally have never used STP products but there not bad. they are better than fram and not as good as mobil.
so there is no reason to not use them.

I was not referring to OEM coils and ignition wire but consumables. I definitely agree you will not find a better ignition wire than the AC Delco 7mm Premium Silicone and the GM coils are good for at least 7000 rpm.
As to whether Fram sucks is a matter of personal opinion. I've been using Fram products for 30 years. I have not blown an engine yet.
I trust Fram enough to run it in my GTP at the dragstrip three years running. I even used Fram products in our '01 Impala LS up until we got rid of it. It did not crap out because of using Fram either. It went because of reliability problems with the CAT, transmission and some electrical problems. You know typical Impala problems.
BTW - Fram is a division of Allied Signal which also owns Prestone and Autolite. And Mobil filters are actually made by Champion Labs. See links below:
Here's some interesting independent info on oil filters:

41-101 AC's made by NGK....Probably correct since they are made in Japan and if NGK is cheaper at the store.., I have no problem with that. K&N filter is a good filter and lasts forever and you do save $ over time, 6 years, 100k,the big but on this is that many DIY'ers, not all, apply over oiling after cleaning and that is where problems can occur. The PVC, yea they are cheap and if you have money to toss fine. If it rattles freely however, there is no need to change it. Fuel filter should be good 100K but if you want to change it at 35-60K that is fine if you suspect there is a need. More important to attend to at 60K, is Trans fliud and filter change. Note: most trans tech pros I know do not recommend flush type trans service. Their reason being the movment of metal particles from where they have settled safely to where they should not be during the process due to the high detergent content of trans fluid. Four to five qts from dropping the pan and filter change is sufficient and recommended by mfg. I would put my money there, but this again is my opinion.

I agree on the ATF fluid and filter change. I do all of my 4T65E trannies every 50K miles. Also, it will require at least 7 - 7.5 quarts of Dextron-III on a pan drop.
