Hey, I want to replace the tube that leads to the air box in an '01 Impala, can someone tell me a good way of getting it off or getting the air box open?

yeah, take off the ring clamp and pull. its not very hard to figure out how to take out the bellows, or the air box.

I know others have done so to install cold air intake but I am curious as to why you want to do this + replace it with what?
I do think the engineering on the factory boxes is the worst I've seen from GM. But then the entire engine bay is a screwed up layout from wiring layout to moisture holding pockets ie: strut towers etc. Hope they did better on the 06's, I haven't seen these yet.

i took out the headlight and sawzaw'd the airbox in the front above the CPU and its gets better gas mileage, better pickup on highway, and sounds throahty when accelerating. I have the 3.4 but the airbox on a 3.8 should be the same.
