water in floor...97 SC2

I'm getting water (not coolant) in the floor mostly on drivers side but also some on passenger side (with the hump separating) .....The place I would suspect is the door seals...but it seems unusual that both doors would begin leaking at the same time...Windshield was replaced about a year or so ago...and there is no visible leakage . If anybody has had a similar problem please reply...

I had a similar problem with my 95 sl2 with 116k miles on it. My windshield was also recently replaced but had nothing to do with the leak. I fixed the problem with suggestions here to run a bead of black rtv sealant between the top edge of the trim and roof over the doors from front to back. I also tweaked the doors a little at the top by rolling down the windows first and putting a knee between the jamb and door and slightly bending the top of the window frames in a bit. Sounds extreme but it worked and no more leaks.

does it have a sunroof? if so check the drain hoses

yeah the sunroof is the main cause for a flooded saturn. the passenger side door is also another spot, seeing that the manufacturing process didnt get the correct curve on that door so you could actually see out of the car on the passenger side. now driver side i have noticed the seal likes to shrink and could easily let water in.

were the seats wet? door panels? anything else you might have noticed wet?

Nothing wet but floor.....a lot on the drivers side and a little on passenger side.

well then im thinking possibly the weatherstripping. i cant say for sure without checking everything myself. but were you able to find maybe a water line were it seemed to leak in? or was everything on the edge of carpet, near door, soaked?

the only other thing i can think off, is maybe like the outside vent on the hvac system somehow leaked water through and in the car. this would make it seem like a bad heater core leaking inside the car. but do you have a sunroof? of course if you do, you would have definitely noticed the headliner wet.

Thanks for the reply...The water soaks the entire carpet in front and puddles on both sides but more on drivers side.....I can't see water lines where it may be coming in..I'm thinking maybe through the door and down the plastic molding around the carpet.....I think my next course of action is to try the advice of the first reply and get some sealant and run it around the entire door frame. I was wondering too if it could be coming in a vent somewhere....because of the leakage on both sides of the hump..which would mean both doors had to start leaking at the same time.
I dont have a sun roof...and no, its not the heater core..its fresh water, not coolant. Thanks again....any other ideas welcome

i wasnt saying the heater core, was just saying maybe water has gotten down there and leaked in as if it were a bad heater core. who knows, ive got about 70% on being the door, just strange.

I'm having the same problem with my 2000 SC1. I had the sunroof drains cleaned last year. That helped stop the water on the front and back passenger side. Now its on the drivers side floor and I can't find where its getting in. Can I check the drains myslef? I spent a small fortune at the dealer the first time. I've been thinking the same things too about the door the vents ect... so I sat in the car while it poured rain but still did not find the source of the leak.:confused:

my 97 saturn one day after going through the car wash ended up with a soapy puddle just in the rear driver side floor it was the weirdest thing ...... and it was only that one little spot ..... hell to clean .... i just hope it doesnt happen again !!

my 94 sl1 has rust on the door sill of both rear doors due to water leaking somewhere. Now the trunk is getting water with the lid down, leading me to think the gaskets are failing. I am going to see if I can use sealant

I took the advice of one of the reaponders and pushed my knee into the doors while pulling on the upper frame of the door and most of my leakage is gone..
I plan to use the seallant around the doors too when I get time and hopefully that will end the little leakage still occurring
