Abs+ets+svs 2

Hello again,

Here is a synopsis of my last post (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=512151): While driving home yesterday, the ABS, ETC OFF (traction control) and SVS (Service Vehicle Soon) lamps all came on at the same time, just like it does every year.

So far, I've tried: Disconnecting/reconnecting the battery cables, reseating the ABS fuse and had ABS wire harness replaced by GM. Right now, I am in the process of letting the car sit and dry off, hoping the error goes away on its own.

I will admit my knowledge of cars is limited. Would any of this have to do with the weather outside? I noticed whenever it gets humid, the lamps show up.
Maybe the module that holds the wires is exposed to the elements, causing it to short out?

Tomorrow, I am going to get a Chiltons/Haynes manual, then jack the car up so I can get a better idea; I'm just trying to avoid getting hosed out of $300 that could *easily* go towards a new suspension...again, any and all help would be much apreciated if anyone has any info.

:rofl: somehow I knew I would end up replying to my own post...anyways, the lamps went out and have not lit up since!

I let the car sit for a whole day, and it seems everything is back to normal: ETS and ABS are both working fine - maybe it was triggered by a wet electrical system...at least I hope it's that simple :cwm27:

I also went over some diagrams I found @ autozone, and it seems low brake fluid could cause the ABS/TC to shut down. I will have the fluid checked out anyway next time I'm at the garage...still another 2000Kms away - Matt

ps: sorry ModGuy for not putting automatic as the transmission type. Part of me still wishes a manual one had been available at the time "-

Matt why would you wait another 2000 km to take it to the garage and have the brake fluid level checked ? You obviously know how to open the hood, just check the master cylinder level yourself ,on the 2000 Sunfire you can see the fluid level thru the cylinder it even has MAX and Min levels so that you don`t have to take the cap off to look. I`m sure the 2001 are not much different. checking it now for low fluid (possible leak) could possibly save your butt. not being critical here but ...........

Thanks for the advice Muff - I did check the fluids and it was normal. I finally decided to bring the car to the garage; turns out there was a short in one of my wheel speed sensors which, fortunately, was covered under extended warranty.
