HI Rally raider,
who is making the mp4/20?

regards

Rob Storey

Revell of Germany has released the kit in 1/24th scale. Some of our European members have it already.

I saw the Revell AG McLaren MP 4/20 (about 15 of them) in a Brisbane hobby shop today, so I'd expect they sould be available around OZ before too long.

Cool. :-) I've had one on order since the kit was supposed to be the MP4/19B. How much was the price?

viperofoz

I think they were $49.99 but that may not be an accurate price guide as the same shop sells AMT kits for $39.99.

They also had the Tamiya 307 WRC and Ferrari F40LM for around $65
The F40 looks nice, shows a parts layout on the box art with a small p/e fret too.

Where abouts is Hobby HQ exactly? I've often heard it mentioned as being pretty good. Guess I could check the phone book if I get desperate.

Phil, Hobby HQ is located on Broadway in Reservoir in Melb just east of Coburg North. Good for we people coming in down the Hume as you turn left onto Mahonys Rd at Broadmeadows, go about 4km then turn right onto High St. This takes you down to Broadway.

They have a website www.hobbyhq.com.au so have a look.

Hobby HQ is also the tamiya outlet for Australia, if you click on the tamiya logo on the top of the home page it will take you there.

Hey Michelle it only just clicked that it was you, will have to talk to you and jason at the next club meeting about some stuff i may need done (if it is possible).

If you talking about the shop under the bridge on Lonsdale St, it is www.hobbyplace.com.au Lots of stuff inside with the cars around to the right. Not a good place to go to as you usually leave with a dead credit card.:grinyes:

Sorry to dredge up an old thread, but I have a tiny rant to vent.

I was given the new Tamiya Peugeot 307 WRC kit for my b'day, and I thought I'd get the PE set for it. So I went to all three hobby shops in downtown Melbourne, to be told by all three that they do not have it, and most likely never will as the Tamiya importer does not bring the automotive PE sets into Aus (not big enough market). Then all three told me to buy it online from Japan. I just find it sad that when I try to support my LHS I am told by them to send my business overseas. :shakehead

I understand there is not much they can do if the importer does not bring a particular line in, but still.... And yet I seem to recall seeing quite a few Tamiya automotive PE sets at HobbyHQ in Reservoir, who was identified previously in this thread as the Aus Tamiya importer. :screwy:

As a side, the Peugeot 307 WRC kit is not too bad. I agree with all previous comments that the lack of chassis detail is bad, and the cost is unfortunate, but the moldings are spot on. Should look nice with the AcuStion PE and Marlboro decal set I just ordered from Media Mix. :disappoin

RallyRaider
03-01-2006, 09:52 PM
Yeah my LHS told me the same story about the Tamiya PE set for the 307. Brain dead importer wouldn't know their ass from their elbow. Not a big deal for me as I'll have to import the aftermarket decals for it anyway so will order the PE at the same time. But what chance does our hobby stand in this country when it is in such ignorant hands?

potsie
03-01-2006, 11:35 PM
I agree Phil. As I said, I have just ordered the AcuStion PE and decal combo set. I will let you know how they look when they arrive.

I am also finding it more difficult not to resort to Asia to buy kits, especially when they are nearly half the price we pay in our LHS's. I know everyone has to add on a little during the import process, but we are talking about $30 - 35 on the new Tamiya kits, and often a heck of a lot more on Fujimi kits. Having bought an '06 Impreza RV on return to Aus, Helen and I want to get the new Fujimi kits, but I can get them about $40 cheaper from Japan!

Anyway, less ranting more building. That needs to be my motto for this year!!

Grant.

Hello,

I'm new here. I've been looking around for a while on this site and i'm hooked on car modelling. I'm from Sydney.

Currently working on a Rx-7 and Skyline R34 but its a very slow process when you have to prioritise modelling time between school and work.

Another Aussie here from near Nhill (a small country town in Victoria)

If any of you country Victorians happen to ever cruise through Terang, i discovered an excellent shop just out of town beside the main road, called The Model Barn. The owner is a great bloke. He has a fair range of diecast (i don't know who would ever want those). He also has a huge range of model kits, some 30 or more years old. It's well worth a visit.

I'm located in Sydney. I'm currently working on a
pair of Fujimi Porsche 917s. My (flawed) thinking
being that I'm building one, two will be less than twice
the work, what was I thinking? :)

Still trying to locate a LHS that sources a
good selection of car kits at somewhat reasonable
prices but not having a lot much luck.

Cheers!

Hi everyone,

I'm new here. Been looking at some of the models on this site for the last couple of weeks. Great models and brilliant tuts up on this board as well.

Anyway, I'm from Sydney (Neutral Bay). Working on three simultanious models at the moment. A KPGC, Z32 and a GSX110S Katana. I'll post some pics in the next couple of days.

Well since its school holidays i think i may be able to get some work done. Realistically i should be studying, but i just can't be bothered.

I'm also looking for a quality model shop in Sydney. There seems to be a heap of them in Melbourne but there doesn't seem to be many good ones in Sydney. I know of Frontline in Newcastle and they are really cheap, but i would like to be able to visit a shop to see what i am buying. I've been to Hobbyco but they are really expensive. I'm modelling on a really tight budget. So does anyone know of a model shop in the Sydney region?

Ace, you wouldn't mind if you told me the name of that store in Bankstown?

Hey guys and gals. I'm from Sydney, Parramatta to be roughly exact. A bit late, but I did get to Model Expo and surprisingly took out 3 firsts.
Sherrifs Mini Cars is a very helpful place to go in Parramatta, but lately I've been getting my stuff from Hiroboy and Hobby Link Japan. Postage has been extremely quick.
It's great to meet you all.

Hi everyone,

Im from Adelaide and into F1 modelling but have found this forum incredibly helpful given the wide range of models covered.

On another note I have a 1/24 scale Porsche 917 Fujimi that I wont to offload. It is brand new in the box I would prefer to perhaps swap with someone who wants to offload a 1/20 scale F1 they no longer want.

I also have a mint boxed 1/12 Lotus 72d which i would prefer to swap with someone in OZ or close to OZ for another 1/12 Tamiya f1 if anyone is interested as well. If so drop me a line here or at home at [email protected]

Cheers,

Adam

Rob,

Thanks for the reply love your work bythe way you have inspired me to get off my arse and acquire a lathe and mill after seeing your WIP's.

1/12 I am chasing any of the following:
Ferrari 312b
Matra MS11
Lotus Mk111 78
Mclaren MP4/6
Williams FW14
Mclaren M23 or Yardley so it can be converted
Revell f12002
I am open to suggestions if you have something you specifically want to get rid off.

With respect to the 1/20 swap for the Porsche I dont have many yet and are very open although I would like a Leyton House March.
Perhaps its easier to tell you what I do have if you have any suggestions;
Ive got a
Lotus 99T
Ferrari F1-2000
Ferrari 310B
Mclaren MP4/5B

Probably easier to email if you like and I can ring or we can work it out off line...

Cheers Adam - [email protected]
