63 Impala brakes

Greetings from the Sooner state.I'm rebuilding a 63 SS Impala and have been told that there are bolt on front disc brakes that will interchange. does anyone know what the applications are?

Places like Sinclairs, The Paddock and Year One should be a good place to start. There are advertisers in Hemmings Motor News as well. Do a google search and you should come up with something. They are generally pricy and go anywhere from $500 and up depending on options. Try to get one that takes OEM GM brake pads, hardware kits and oil seals.

Thanks Bob I appreciate the info and will check it out.I've heard that some of the after market conversions are more for eye appeal than actual stopping power.I was hoping that there were spindles,rotors,calipers,etc from later model GM applications that would fit.

Try out this link. This guy (he's in my area and has a good rep) for your brake conversion parts. It looks like the swap uses reconditioned GM calipers, power booster and other GM parts. It goes for about $500, he sells any individual part too. Once you add up all the parts, it's not too bad. I paid $120 for a rebuilt booster once, the master I believe is new.

I thought I had posted an earlier response to the thread, where it went I dunno. I had listed potential donors for salvage yard parts. You'd have to measure up the spindles and tie rod attachment points. But some cars that may have what you want are: '70-77 Monte Carlo, '77-90 Impala passenger cars, '72-77 Chevelle.
