Any thoughts from you guys (and gals ) on the '06 SS ? With the V-8 do you feel it would "Maybe" do a little justice to the SS family of years past ?
Thanks.

I'm only 37 years old, so I can't really speak of Impalas of past. However, I really love my 06' SS... I needed to get a car with a wider rear seat than an Accord etc... because I have 3 kids under 4 years old.

However, I also wanted to enjoy driving my car, so I opted for the SS. Well I've been very pleasently surprised with how much I love the car.

It's very comfortable (leather buckets) however the front seats don't offer enough side bolstering.

It rides great, very little road / wind noise plus it's smoot and it seems to handle really well too. I'm certainly not going to head out to the local parking lot where people are Autocrossing, but it sticks to the road great.

The power is great, and I really like the controls and the stereo.

I'm not getting the advertised mpg, but it's pretty close.

Also, I've heard some people on another forum complain about the torque steer. After about 1500 miles of fairly sporty driving, I can say that in my opinion the torque steer is not really an issue. It's there a little bit, but it's not bad at all.

If you like the look of the new Impalas, I think you'll love the SS...

i saw the new ss at a car show i went to recently and i liked it. lots of room like we've come to enjoy, with a sporty look to it. the most surprising thing, i thought, was the amount of trunk space. that thing was HUGE. and i like the new rims too.
