Unique idea! DTM cars are quite nice, and i'm willing to bet that this one will look just as awesome, if not better! Any plans for an engine? Like a Mercedes V8 or anything? Nice work!
I'll definately be following this thread :)

Woww... nice project here ! Very interesting build !
I discovered this car when I earned it in GT 4 !! :)
maybe a stupid question but... is the rear door actually opening or not ? because there it seems not on your build...
(sorry if this is a really stupid question but i don't know much about touring cars ! )

More of a interim update than a full update due to work and house decorating.
Anyway the front bumper have gone on and the start of the blending in process is under way.

Nice mods so far to get the great DTM look!
I'm curious too, will you be doing any transmission or under chassis work? I read in my GranTurismo book that the Cusco Impreza raced in the JGTC had work done to make it RWD. It would be a great challenge to make the mods super complete up and down.
..but then i'll just zip up now before I become a nuisance. Hope that the house painting went well.
Happy modeling,
Vince Wu

This was going to be a curbside build using the chassis from the Tamiya DTM Astra......
But
The decals have gone wrong, very wrong so not sure it will get finished.

The decals I am using (and messed up) have a notch missing from them where the door handles are so that's why they are left in

Still not made my mind up about carrying on but here are two more pics.
You can just see where the decals have gone wrong. The yellow swoosh on the left door at the bottom went all wrong and looks a mess from certain angles (which i deliberately didn't photo ;) ) Oh the wheels and chassis are there for mock up only at the mo.

Yeah it is the Monte version, it was the kit the local hobby store had in and I wasn't sure what wheels to use. The monte kit had the bigger tarmac wheels but the Astra one give it more of a DTM look I think.

Yep going to build it with the Astra wing.
Looks like I'm going to finish it as well after all the comments.
Had to cut about 6mm out of the Astra chassis to get it to fit

I'll look good with the Astra wing. Is it going to come off the back and outward, like on the Astra, or just come straight up out of the trunklid? Those wheels look tight, too. It would have been wicked if you could have re-used the door hinges for this. I like where this is going, though, and as I examine your left rear door and that yellow swoosh, I must say I'm very impressed how it did come out. That looks like a very complex surface to decal.
Do a good job on the radiator, too. You can't tell it at first, but the radiator shows right through that bottom gap, as shown:

Just another quick update.
The chassis is finished the brakes and suspension are built and the body now is complete apart from indicators (only noticed when i uploaded picture to PC). All that needs doing is the interior and roll-cage.

Hope fully the weather will be better tomorrow some i can take some pics outside as the blue looks a lot better in natural light.

Excellent job. DTM transformation is superb and makes a really unique model that is a change to the normal rally car versions.
