code p0711

can somebody give me a hand with this. my car is giving a code of p0711 and i know that it is the tranny temp sensor, but do i need to change it or is there something else that could be the problem. also could this be what is causing my sw2 to idle funny

well it could be bad, but maybe the transmission is overheating. have you had the transmission flushed and filter replaced? the sludge that builds up in the transmission can clog up many things and cause excessive heat. also if your torque converter is bad it can cause the transmission temperature to rise.

as of the bad idle, it could be the coolant temperature sensor or just the wires on the throttle position sensor. i would say maybe idle air control valve because most gms typically go bad, but with saturns they seem to last just fine. most people that have the idle issue wiggle the throttle position sensor wires while its doing that to see if it smooths back out.
