1999 Sable GS Tranny issue!!!

Hello,
I have had my 1999 Mercury Sable since 2002 and have put a total 150,000 on it 70,000 of which are mine, I bought the car used with 80 on it, So anyways here's my problem,
It goes into all gears fine except Reverse; It will go into reverse , but I cannot push on the accelerator or make the car go over 1,000 RPM's or it will most definitly shut off.
When I put the shifter on the column into reverse and hit the gas the car will shut off, windshield wipers will go a couple of times, headlight's flash, and radio turns off and then on! I know it's wierd , but the car had been doing it for about 35,000 miles and I have never had the chance to look into it. I have been told that it is the Torque convertor, but it would be doing that in all gears not just reverse? It is greatly appreciated with any input! thanks Kalvin

transmission range sensor

or just replace the transmission range sensor because that's whats wrong with it.

Well, I put the trs in in my car today and it still does it, I am thinking that it is a pinched wire in the column that is grounding out, because now the car will not go in D or R any input thanks Kalvin
