Door Jamb Switches

Once Again This 96 Windstar Has Me Puzzeled.interior Door Open Indicator Is Stuck On And Dome Light Stuck On Too.used To Be Able To Slam All The Doors And All Lights And Indicators Would Go Off. No Luck Any Longer. So Are Ther Any Door Jamb Switches?or Does Anyone Know What Activates These Lights?pulling The Bulb Just Doesn't Work For Me.please Help!

I think everyone who has owned a windstar has gone thru this one. Ford's design for the door switches is built into the latching mechanism. I would try to clean them, use some WD-40...should work, you want to try and use something with silicon, that way they will stay lubricated. They get gummed up alot and end up sticking. Just spray into the latch, and work the door a few times. As well make sure the contact points on the sliding door are clean. Try these as an easy fix....have heard of some people replacing latches, but same problem eventually comes back....just a quick a spray for some temporary relief. I do mine every 6-9 months. Hope this works, if not...next step.....

WD-40 has worked for me.

The contacts on the sliding dooe are for the speakers and power door locks. The plunger switch for the door ajar and interior lights is actually on the rear door jamb.

Chances are though that the problematic switches are in the hatch. They are part of the latch mechanism. They can be accessed by removing the hatch door panel.

GM uses the same method with several of their door jamb switches. I agree with everyone else who responded, wd-40 works wonders.
