2003 Impala -- No cargo light?

Just got the Impala and am very happy with it so far. But.... is it supposed to have a light in the trunk? If so, where would it be located? I've looked around and the only thing I see is a small glass plate receptacle on the top inside (gotta look upside down to see it) and I thought that was some kind of sensor.

Any help really appreciated!!

It's definitely got a trunk light. I'm pretty sure it's right where you mentioned - inside the moving trunk lid, such that the light is on above you when the trunk is fully opened. I'll double-check mine to make sure.

that "sensor" is the light, its about 1/2'' wide by about 1.5'' long, right? proabably has a little tab on it. ill go get a pic for you to make sure your talking about the same thing. but that is the light.

EDIT: here that pic, I think you can figure out what is the trunk light without me having to explain

Those trunk lights can burn out frequently. Take the bulb to napa to find a match - they're like $1.

Oops! I mis-spoke. BigRod's picture is correct. The light is NOT on the moving trunk lid, but instead on the fixed body of the car in the center of the back lip of the trunk opening. There's a twisted pair of wires going to it, like BigRod's picture shows. Seems to be a very high-intensity bulb inside...
