doesnt matter on the year of the motor. it matters on the year of the tranny.

this should help you.

not only the year of the tranny but the year of the flywheel as well, as the 90-91 has a larger bolt pattern

Hybrid1990crx
12-16-2005, 09:31 PM
larger bolt patern? I think not. wouldnt that mean the cranks are different then?

1PhatCX
12-16-2005, 11:25 PM
its right in the pic u posted too

i wish i had an 88-89 pressure plate and a 90-91 still to show the difference, try to bolt an 88-89 pressure plate to a 90-91 flywheel, physically impossible, the 90-91 is a larger bolt pattern

even tho its a 12mm difference.. its still a big difference

alright. thanks alot guys

if you are going to buy a new flywheel and clutch then the only thing that matter is the # of splines on the tranny

Hybrid1990crx
12-17-2005, 06:55 AM
derek, did you read the entire thing? Look at the bottom "you can upgrade to 90-91 clutch by using the 90-91 flywheel." Case closed. The flywheel itself is larger, not the bolt pattern. like i said before, if the bolt pattern is bigger than the crank would be different.

1PhatCX
12-17-2005, 07:18 AM
i didnt say anything at all about the crank now did i?
re-read what i said... the PRESSURE PLATE is bigger meaning it bolts up on a different spot on the flywheel. meaning the bolt pattern on the flywheel is different

Hybrid1990crx
12-17-2005, 07:23 AM
LMAO, way to edit your post, derek. before it said the "bolt pattern for the flywheel", not the pressure plate. its rather obvious that the pressure plate is going to be different with the larger flywheel. And to think i was starting to like you....not that, that matters at all.

look at me editing my old post, and it not saying that I did.

You were wrong, admit it, you are being very immature now.

Jeez, wow, look I edited my previous post, and you know what, im editing this one as I type this.

ok from my searching i found a few people say that the 88-89 pressure plate wont bolt up to a 90-91 flywheel

ok heres the deal with upgrading to a 90-91

89 - you just need to upgrade to a 90-91 clutch and flywheel. or you can just order everything for a 89

88 - if you want to upgrade to a bigger clutch get a 90-91 flywheel and pressure plate and buy a 84-87 prelude disc which is 21 spline and 212mm. or you can just order everything for a 88.

i would recommend going to a 90-91 because then you can order a lighten flywheel which is the shit.

civickiller
12-17-2005, 08:24 AM
original poster, all you gotta do is count the splines, if its 21 then its a 88. if its 20 then its 89-91. if its 20 spline then measure it, should measure either 200mm or 212mm then from there you can figure it out on which clutch it is and which one you can upgrade too if you want

great additude derek, you'll go far in life with that one. ill end it on this note.

you were not right, you edited your post, then i said you were wrong, you realized you were wrong, went back and fixed your post and then tried to make me look dumb. Right. Thats something a 6th grader would do. You need to grow up man and admit when you are wrong. You have 6,000 posts, act like a REAL memeber with 6000 posts would.

P.S. Your car sucks, and is a rust bucket and its slow and crashed up. Your old car sucked even harder, was also a rust bucket and was crashed up, and had a lame ass swap and you painted it up like any other ricer would.

my "rust bucket" which has one small spot of rust on it, would walk what ever u own right now
i know i'm not wrong, i've asked lots of people to read my post and they all know exactly what im talking about. were talking about CLUTCHES here... NOT CRANKS so whoever thinks im talking about the bolt pattern for the crank, ur fucking stupid and shouldnt have a wrench 5 feet from the car. grow up and lay off the crack pipe
