What is the approximate length of the power steering return hose?

Best thing I would know, would be to use a piece of string to lay onto the hose.....and then measure the string....Buy just a little longer than you measured....

Nope.. but make sure you use the right type of fluid some years use tranny fluid .. My 2001 does. I just used dextron/ mercon works great...

I have a 1998 Windstar with 100,000 on it still runs pretty good.

I would use Mobil 1 ATF, which is a Mercon Synthetic....if your '98 calls for Mercon. The synthetic will take the heat better...and give you better cold flow.
Do a search in this windstar room on power steering fluid....and you will see several posts on how to flush it. I ran 3 quarts through to flush it out.
