P0715 trouble code?!? '98 windstar 3.8

checked codes after MIL went on, have a hard P0715 fault. "input/turbine spd sensor A circuit malf." says my actron reader. i think it has to due with the tranny. any insight as to what i can do to correct it? there doesn't seem to be any "sensor" on the trans; that i can tell so far anyway. thanks

P0715 is a loss of signal from the Turbine Speed Sensor (TSS) aka Transmission Speed Sensor.

You remove the front Left tire....to get to it.

Can you really get to the TSS (VSS) from the wheel well after tire removal??? I thought you had to at least remove the tranny heat shield (and possibly the exhaust crossover pipe) for access from beneath.

turbine speed sensor is different than vehicle speed sensor. TSS is usually mounted on the driver's side of the tranny.
