cracked paint...

1998 SC2. Tonight I got rear ended thanks to Michigan's wonderful weather making for icy roads. No body damage in terms of denting or crunching (surprisingly) thanks to the dent-free bumper, but where I was hit the paint pretty much just cracked right off...so now there are a few holes in the paint on the bumper. I'm wondering if this has happened to anyone else and if the paint continued to crack off. I'm more worried about the paint continuing to crack off gradually. If that does happen, is there anything that can stop it? My funds are limited.

It happens on a lot of urethane panels. The cracking will gradually go away but not before more breaks off. The accident caused the paint to seperate off the panel, it won't magically restick to the surface. You have to have the bumper repainted for it to be right again.
