Also consider, supercharged engines respond better to upgrades than do N/A engines. 10hp seems reasonable to me. However i'd say that you will probably have to do a little tuning to get the full 10hp out of it. If you just bolt it on and go? maybe more like 5-7hp. Basicly i'm just saying that boosted engines respond better to upgrades so it is possible i think.

Actually the dragonet isn't picked on at all, his hide is a bit too tough for the lions and I don't think they find him tasty. The red volitan likes to occationaly chew on my sailfin blenny though and that really pisses me off(always lets it go though). But he'll be moving to the swim-only tank soon enough...little bastard.

Anyhow, I was hoping the person you raced was this person from my work that has a black Evo. I waited until I talked to him, before I got in here, just in case. Well, it wasn't.

He doesn't believe your story either, as he has driven a Cobalt SS, and was a former owner of an SRT-4, and says from experience that the SS barely impressed him, coming from another strong, FWD car. If you didn't know, stock SRT-4's barely edged-out stock Evo's from when both first came out, and SRT-4's are faster than S/C Cobalts, stock-for-stock.

But who knows? Maybe your car is stronger than most.

It wasn't the ET's that the Evo's were running that didn't impress us, it was the trap speeds. The guy was consistantly running 13.8-14.2 @ 96-98 mph. This is why Eric said that this solidified my story. Eric is also correct about track condition not being wet or full of gravel so that can't be used in the Evo's favor as no one in their right mind races a fwd or rwd car on gravel or watery roads. :grinno: But regaurdless of the AWD cars liking slick surfaces, they still can launch like brutes and pull sub 2.0 60's at the track. This is much better than any stock fwd or rwd car.

Also, what was involved in your buddies "tune" and did he gain much from it. I've heard that the factory tuning can be improved on somewhat.

My car is Yellow. He was talking about another local SS/SC owner that was running on the track last weekend. It's a blue cobalt. We've got some vid of it as well, I'll post it...

From what I've heard the flash is good for about 40 hp or so, whether that's bhp or whp I don't know. Either way that's not to shabby for just a reflash. So-k though, I'll still run him just the same. Too bad the Evo doesnt just have a CAI like mine does though, it would make a much better comparison to the first Evo race I had. Will be fun either way. :naughty:

Stock for stock, the Evo was the quickest...stop, roll, backwards, forwards, rain, sleet or snow. The SRT-4 was a close second and probably faster than the less powerfull '03 or '04 Evo out on the open roads. The Redline and Cobalt SS are a distant 3rd...more along the lines of an honorable mention. They don't throw your head into the seat like a 2900lb car with 260ft/lbs of torque can do, or a high revving motor pushing 20+ lbs of boost to redline.

If you're story happened like you said it, and you pulled an Evo (any Evo...stock or otherwise) by 3 cars up to 125mph with only a CAI (a mod that most proffesional tuners would call a waste of money on a FI car), then you're fricken Jeff Gordon and/or you're driving around a factory freak. To pull on a car with an extra 30whp/40wtq is rare. To pull 3 cars on one is tough to swallow. Just being honest. Stranger things have happened, but all my instincts say this is improbable, if not IMPOSSIBLE.

There is no BS to the story whatsoever. It happened just as I said it happend. Problem is, unlike the NSX deal where I have hard video evidence, I have none on this one because there was no passenger in the car to take a video. So all I've got is this story as proof.

As for why I beat him so badly, I have no idea. Only he knows that. Maybe he was a horrible driver or maybe my car was just faster. Whatever the case may be, I still beat that Evo, driven by that guy for that particular race. No BS here dude.

Not to mention that he was doing some amazing feats with his car when he first got it. But since GM replaced his motor, it's not terrorizing cars way higher up in the performance ladder.

If all you beed is Carbon Fiber hood, a CAI and a GM 4 banger with a mini blower... then shoot, I'mma get one and go pick on some C5 Corvettes.

Cause if you can keep up with a mid 13 second car (Evo), then no doubtedly you can keep up with a low to mid 13 second car (C5). Right?

Ahhh an Evo IX. My bad. The tunability of the bigger turbo and intake cam is making all of us Evo VIII owners jealous. There's a guy around here with a TBE and EcuTek flash on his new IX putting down roughly the same power as Evo VIII owners with cams, MBC, Walbro, TBE and intake.
