96 Windstar
Replaced the front driver side and passenger side wiper arm assemblies. Bought them from the Ford dealership and installed new wiper blades at the same time.
The driver side wiper wil not remove the water from the windshield at speeds above 45 mph. It has done this for a long time. No matter what I try it will not remove the water. It leaves a huge spot where the blade does not hit the windshield. Any help is appreciated.

I've seen this on my 95 and do not know what's causing it or how to fix it. I was thinking that the spring in the arm was getting week. However with your arm replacement that is ruled out. I was also thinking that the piviot point on the arm was getting sticky... the new arms put that idea away too.
Anyone out there with a solution for this?

New wiper blades sometimes don't have the "depth" (height, width, ??) that original wipers do ... and the springs weaken over time also.
I often find I have to reshape, by bending, the arms so that the springs force the wipers into the windshield with more "umph".
In fact, I gotta do this today on a Ranger.
