For those interested I just posted a 'how-to' in the General Car Modeling forum on the intake mesh! It's not the best step by step instructions but hopefully it will help?

How can I miss this thread? :banghead:
Awesome build there. I'll be using your progress as a reference when I decided to build mine. I have the clear cowl version and with the details and progress you showed here will be very useful to me. Thanks Rob.

I think there is no model like a well built F1 model, and this one is really breathtaking.
Congrats.

Thanks for all the comments
I was very proud when I won the Enhanced Motorsport section of the QMHE (Queenland Model Hobby Expo) and even more proud when it got the overall Best of Show honours!
In fact, I decided to make another version of the 312T3 based on the standard Tamiya kit. There were about 3 or 4 different cowling shapes on the 1978 312T3 and I had a couple of extra kits anyway. This time however, I am going to make an extra set of all the turned parts and when the kit is completed I'm going to sell the extra set on EBay. I'm not trying to make money, just help pay for my hobby!
It is probably easier to keep this thread going rather than start a whole new thread with the same name.... so...
First up, if I am going to make two sets of wheels I need to make the wheel centres as well. I turned the Tamiya wheels down so they will just slip into the machined wheels. Then I replaced all the molded on nuts with Sakatsu items. I then made a rubber mold of both the front and rear wheel centres. These wheels will be designed to fit neatly onto the hub and have working wheel nuts like my other kit.
Next, I'll turn 2 sets of front and rear wheels!

Congrats on your win at the show Rob. I had a chance to view your article in the Tamiya mag, great write-up and excellent pics. You deserve the praise. I will be watching this and try to adapt it to my 1/12 T4.

I am in need of some help?
I am trying to locate a set of the MFH wet tyres that were used on the Toleman when it was originally released? I have the larger tread pattern which was the corrected set but apparently the smaller wet pattern was used by Michelin in the 70's too?
I want to use the tread pattern to make a set of wets for the 312T3 so I can make Gilles Austrian GP car?
Can anyone help?
Thanks
