I just got on highway and car suddenly seemed to loose power. Got immediately to shoulder and engine lights came on, car was dead. Noticed temp. gauge was hot but not topped out. Then car filled with steam. Apparently lost all coolant. At time I opened hood and noted radiator was not hot yet. After tow, found hose out of top of water pump at thermostat burst and spewed fluid. Distributor was dry, ignition module dry, all fuses good, spark seems good, fuel present, timing good. Cranks but won't start. Tried ether in air intake and still doesn't seem to want to pop. Obviously something got wet and has failed. Help.

Keep on squirting ether in it and it will go pop bang big time. :uhoh:
Good grief Do not do things like that.
Wash the mess off of the eng with water and let it dry out.
Check air filter for being wet. Any coolant in oil/
Check and see if it is getting spark and fuel.

Air filter was dry. No coolant in oil. Oil looks great. Spark looks good (concerned it is whitish not bluish), fuel is present. No arching or sparking anywhere under hood in dark.

Is the fuel pump running and does it have good fuel pressure?
Do you have injector pulse?
Have you got a scanner to check for codes?
If it has a dist cap look inside of the cap for moisture.
