Systems 2strokebloke owns:Atari 2600, Intellivision, NES, Sega Genisis, Play Station.
Systems 2strokebloke will never own: X-Box, X-Box 360, Sega CD. :D
I can't believe that they're already coming out with the next wave of systems - what are they trying to do? Destroy the industry like they did in '84?

I've barely broken the systems I do have, why would I buy new ones?
what's wrong with sega cd?

what's wrong with sega cd?

Yeah, I'm gonna second that one. I thought the SegaCD was (is) great. Night Trap, Eternal Champions, Fur Fighters, Sonic CD -- great games. Working Designs pumped some absolutely classic RPGs through that system. There was also a handful of top-notch shooters out for it. Just pretend Sewer Shark and the Make Your Own Music Video series weren't there, and you're all set :)

I just watched that smashing video. It was OK, although Iassumed they did it in front of a LINE of people. It wasn't as good as it could have been, what with it just being in the parking lot surrounded by only a handful of goobers. But funny nonetheless.

i dont find anything redeeming in the ps2, or gamecube. the ps2 is a system that just wont die. the dreamcast was ahead of its time, and just never caught on, but IMHO the xbox is where its at. most versatility and capabilities. gamecube games suck and the ps2 lacks good graphics hardware, decent online ability, and a hard drive. i own and mod xboxes on the side and that's all ever do. JUST MY 2 cents don't get all pissy

Just wanna make sure everyone knows you CAN install almost any hard drive to the network adapter to work on the ps2. You need a special program to install games on it.

I've broken three ps2's, and a ps2 slim. I've had my xbox for the duration of all four ps2 systems. The only reason I'm going to buy another ps2 is because i miss gran turismo.

Funny how my ps2 outlasted my xbox. There will be problems with everything anyone can buy. Nothing will ever be perfect esspecially when dealing with electronics. Sony has its problems and the xbox fanboys just on them just like the sony guys do to the microsoft problems. Its just like imports vs domestics. Pointless arguement.

There's no pointless argument here. All I'm saying is that the machine is worth the same as the motor. I don't know how many thousands of hours I had on that PS2, it was done. Nobody was complaining or taking company sides.

i was actually referring to the fact that fixing sony products cost the same as buying a new one and i believe that is true for all sony products like i said. i totally agree with you on all electronics not being perfect. I definitely experience that in my household.

Yeah its outragous that the cost to fix the thing is just as much as the product as a whole.

eh, it's gotten to the point that most of our consumer electronics goods are disposable in nature. Even if replacement parts are available, the labor costs involved run the bill up pretty fast. If they break after the warranty period, I figure we got our use out of it. Funny how we've lowered our expectations of products, huh?

I have to laugh at the salesperson every time I buy an electronic item. They always want to sell me a "service contract" or " maintenance agreement" or some such item. I usually tell them it'll be obsolete once it breaks past the warranty period, and if it's not going to last that long, then maybe I shouldn't buy it in the first place. Maintenance agreement? Yeah right, Sparky, sign me up.

Sony? They gave themselves a big black eye with this latest DRM XCP crap on their CDs. I won't buy ANYTHING with Sony's name on it just out of principle.

Hmm, not all warranties are crap. I bought one with my 20 gig ipod a few months ago, it ensures my ipod will be worth the amount i paid until the warrenty is up. If they dont sell that one anymore its 300 bucks towards a new one.

My PS2 was jacked, so i called SCEA. They told me my system would need to be sent to sandiego for repair, and would cost $65+. I said screw it and ripped apart the system, cleaned the lense W/ some rubbing alcohol, and it works perfect.

Thats probably the dumbest logic i've ever heard. People buy systems that suit their gaming style. It has nothing to do with what anyone else says. "Oh xbox rules" thats cool, i dont really care for it. Most systems do have their upsides but there is one that stand out to every person who is into gaming. Thats the one they pick.

and they think "Oh im buying this cuz everybody else says its good and i have really no clue, lets just say im buying it cuz i liked playing it"

or, dont they know they're buying it under influence of others?

I mean, why haven't everybody in the world tested smoking and drugs? They cant know its dangerous, right? cuz they haven't tested it. And they cant be rejecting it because everbody says its dangerous?

A PC will always be better then consoles

I have personally owen a sega, playstation, and x-box, and even a oddessy. That being said I still think X-BOX is best in todays market, as for the 360 i think its dumb as a door knob to spend any thing over 150 bucks for a game concel that is just my 2 cents Sega was just plain and simple way the hell befor their time

I picked up a GameCube a few weeks ago -- and I've gotta say I really like it. It's not a bad little system for under $80 -- and all the stuff for it is cheaper too! The used games are noticeably less expensive than their siblings on other platforms, and you can get preowned wireless controllers (Wavebirds rock) for less than the cost of a third-party wired PS2 one. I've logged hours and hours on Zelda -- and that's a lot for me, considering that I work 45 hours a week, plus maintain more active hobbies (I haven't spent that much time with a game since Shenmue, back in my part time waitering days after High School and before college.) I was even able to score that 4-in-1 Zelda disc that only came with GameCube systems for a limited time a few years back -- someone had actually sold the thing at my local EB, so I got it for a damn good price. Even the clerks were surprised they had it.

I'm getting a gamecube soon, simply because it's low enough in price that I'll pay for it and it's got a lot of titles that I can play with my friends. I'll own an Xbox360 when it's been out for a couple of years and is worth as much as the regular Xbox is now:smile:.

I really want to pick up the new Mario Strikers game -- that looks awesome. Actually I've realized I need more multiplayer games period. All I have is Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee, which is pretty damn cool. But some Mario Party would be sweet as well. Of course, Powerstone 2 for the Dreamcast is still the king of the multiplayer mountain in my book.

No, they dig guys with a very large encephalization.

P.S. Speaking of games and all, my 360 hasn't broke, overheated, or anything at all to show it has problems. I've played it for hours on end with no trouble. I've hooked it up to Live and it's doing great there as well. I think it was well worth it and everything because it's been fun to play.

I think a video game system is only as good as the games for it. So when people blame the hardware or console, I don't see the point. The machines are designed to play whatever you want, so if software game publishers are lacking, thats the politics behind the scenes and licsensing issues to blame. Though Nintendo made some pretty good systems, and Dreamcast was an excellent console that was way under-rated, the games available on those platforms were limited. Playstation's success is attributed to the variety of geners of its games. Sega and Nintendo are playing "catch-up" because they lagged on expanding their genres (Nintendo stuck to "fun for everyone" rated games for a while, while the dreamcast didnt go beyond "MK" gore). I just got an XBox 360 last night ( I know I know...I shouldve waited) and the graphics and tech theyve stuffed into it makes it the most sophisticated dedicated gaming console ever made. The wireless controllers were a sweet addition too (though Halo 2 crashed last night...overheating I think). I'm eagerly waiting to see what Sony and Nintendo have coming to the market to compete with the 360. (I'm not a fan of any particular console... I just got the XBox for the Halo 360 that'll be out in spring).

Mario Kart 64 has been in my 64 since as long as I remember. The battle mode feature is still to this day one my favorite mutli player games. I really liked Goldeneye as well and I love all the mario party games.

As far as the game consoles I have had 2 PS2 (Slim and Regular) and 1 Xbox. The only reason that I bought a second PS2 is because I put the first one in my old car and had sold it with the car, so I bought another one to replace it. I have not had any problems what so ever with either consoles.

Has anyone read any reviews about the Nintendo revolution that is coming out. From what I can tell it is suppose to be a pretty sweet system. Nintendo is actually going to have online capiability and the controllers for it are pretty sweet. Also from what I have heard it is going to allow you to load any game that nintendo has ever made to it.

Well I personally know 4 fools who stole a PSP from a guy who was 'sleeping'. He was toying with a PSP in the park, they walked up to him and asked to see it... He gave it to them, he never saw it again.

IMO new gadgets cost too much and less 'fortunate' people do this crazy things to get them.

02-03-2006, 10:22 AM
I bet that it is overheating, just like the problem that is going on in the new slimmer PS2, you cant play it for extended periods of time because it overheats cause of not enough ventilation or space for big fans or enough of them. You can have this happen to your graphics card if you dont put a fan on them. Its kinda like an engine except this just shuts down.

I've had the new version for 7 months now and it's never done that. And believe me, I've played the shit out of that thing. There are either 2 fans in that thing, or one fan with 2 speeds. Sometimes when I play for a long time, the fan gets noisier and it sounds like it's spinning faster, but then it eventually stops.

Everyone who owns an N64 needs to see what Carlos Mencia did to one on his show. I'm sorry, it's not fucking 1996 anymore. The only reason I would buy an Xbox 360 would be fore playing Halo 2 (or 3, when it comes out) cause all the other games on it suck ass.

I'll buy a PS3 first though. It isn't overrated, it's that gaming has evolved.
