I have some OBX plugs and aftermarket wires I want to install in my 05 Tib GT but am not sure of the best way to go about it. Does the plenum have to be removed to get at the three plugs in the back? Can anyone outline the procedure for doing this for me and let me know if there is anything else I will need to do this installation on my plugs.

Yes you will have to remove the plenum to get to the back plugs. The plenum gasket is thin metal. If you are carefull enough, you can get it done without have to replace it. If you get any bends or kinds in the gasket, you will need to replace it. Front ones are self explanatory. Back ones, remove all cables and hardware that is connected to the plenum, unbolt the plenum and lift off, then you can get to the plugs easily.

Are their any special torque settings for replacing the plenum after removing it? Thanks for the info.

easy there pal.
i was going to go into webtech and find out those torque numbers for you. hmmmm...good luck finding them. do some searching.
and before you go making assumptions, you should realize what you are going up against. I havent been to the track lately, but i could easily beat a stock v6 with what I have done. im going to go ahead and assume your car is stock, what with the obx plugs you are getting.
in a real race, you wouldnt even stand a chance. i would pwn you in autocross, hands down. again, unless you are an idiot with crazy awesome ub3r cool mods getting some obx plugs.

Sorry, didn't mean to come across that way. I was just talkin some shit. No disrespect intended. My car is basically stock. I have a SRI, I actually think I am going to wait on the plugs since I found out I have NGK's iridium plugs anyways. I may do the wires still though. Not sure if it is worth removing the plenum and everything just for wires though. I doubt my obx plugs will be better than the NGK plugs I already have. Let me know what you think. Again sorry for saying what I said, I didn't mean to disrespect anyone.

no man, its cool. word of advice...stick with ngk plugs and wires. tried and true, and cheap.
and since you asked nicely ;)
intake manifold to head is 14-15 lb. ft. thats a low number, and you definately dont want to snap anything, so make sure you step to the spec torque. go to 8-9 and then 14-15.

Any way you could send me the link to where you found that info. I greatly appreciate it. So what do you have done to your Tibby?

You might want to pull a front plug and find out for sure. Sometimes they come with Champions from the factory. For replacements, Hyundai offers the Champions and NGKs. Of course, almost all dealers replace them with the NGKs when it comes time for them to be replaced.

I did pull one of the front ones and it was an NGK plug. Thanks for the advice. Can you find out what the torque specs for replacing the plenum are for me? I would greatly appreciate it.
