Hello everyone, I was wondering if someone could tell me why I am not getting any heat in the front or rear of my windstar. Sometimes when I rev the engine it will come on mostly in the front, sometimes in the front and rear. I also have to rev the enging to over 3000 rpm before it will start to work but as soon as I take my foot off the gas the heat goes away. Then other times I don't have to do anything and it will work (seldomly though). Today I changed my rad and the van never over heats even in the summer so I was guessing that it is not the thermostat.(I could be wrong though). Could someone please help me with my heat problem Please. Very cold up here in Canada.

The blend door is vaccum operated....
You might try back tracking the vaccum lines.
One may be loose, pinched, or melted.

Sorry I have to disagree one this one with you (just a fyi I've read a lot of your post and this is the first one I've disagreed on).
The faster the engine, the more the throttle is open the less vacuum the engine has. Some here may remember the wipers that were vacuum operated. When the accelerator was stepped on the wipers would slow down. When the engine was at idle (when we needed the wiper the least) they would be going a mile a second.

Hello
I would check the thermostat. Does your heat gauge go at least 1/4 the way up? I've see more than one thermostat fail because the "U" shape that holds the spring has broken and the thermostat is left opened and not allowing the engine to heat up.
Another thing it could be is low on coolant or an air pocket in the cooling system.

I do understand the lower vaccum at higher RPM....and it would make sense to have the problem at higher rpm vs lower. Unless, somehow, there is a crack in a line that opens up more somehow under unique conditions....
The IMRC opens up at about 3000 rpm....but this is a '95...which does not have the IMRC.
The suggestion of coolant level is also a very good one.....and much more likely.
