98 LT Trouble Starting (Fuel Pressure Related)

Ok........

Quick history...
It's a 98 LT, 4.3l.
Months and Months ago....I got an error code telling me that the HVAC door was stuck open or something to that effect. I was told by otheres this is common, and can sometimes be caused by the gas cap being left off while running or something of the sort. I reset the error code, and never got it again.

Although...months ago I started realizing that my Blazer wouldnt start up right away. It'd crank longer then normal.
Heres the original thread I posted about it: http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=440339

And it's worsened with time, so that now...it's usually the second attempt. I'm almost POSITIVE its fuel related. I don't know what to check first. I'm not sure how to check the fuel pressure either. Could someone assist?

Thanks
Josh

Get a fuel pressure tester and attach it to the shrader valve on back of the intake... You should be around 60 psi for proper running. Also when is the last time you changed your fuel filter.

The issue with the gas cap doesn't have anything to do with your HVAC (heating and air conditioning) the code you would have gotten would have been for your emissions and it's caused by lack of pressure in the tank which is why tightening the gas cap works...

When was the last time you did a tune-up? Cap , Rotor, & Plugs.

Hey Guys-

Thanks for the replies. First off....my fault...sorry about the HVAC misquote....don't ask me why I thought of that word...but you're right it was about some door related to the emissions etc. I dont know if it was gas cap related or not....I never changed anything...but the code never came back. I only mentioned it incase it could be related to the current problem.

I did a tune up full wires, cap, rotor, plugs at the end of last winter. Actually I believe it was Feb/March.
I've changed the fuel filter since then as well.

A-where can I get a fuel pressure Tester? Price?
B-it seems to lose pressure after its sitting for a while...so should I check it after its sat for a while? an hour or two?
C-do I check it while its running as well? theres no issues while running. Seems to be fine once its started.
D-where do I go from the test? If its lower then your specified 60psi, where do I go from there? If it IS the specified 60psi, what next?

thanks again
