Burnt by a stang :(

I was up in the wee mornings on the freeway, going to help my old highschool for a carwash. I was on the freeway, going maybe only 60-70 (hawaii speedlimit = 65) and i blew by a new mustang 01ish to 04? first thing i saw was the GT emblem, and i figured..im screwed >_< im running a stock 5.7L formula. He pulls up right behind me and just sort of follows me around, so i figure okay. whast the use of power if i dont test it out. i put the pedal to the metal, my car downshifts, and it takes off. i hit about 90 in a couple seconds, and im trying to figure out where the mustang is. he appears right out of my right side blind spot and just blows past me. needless to say, i was pretty sad. =P

the only consolation for me is that his car costs almost 20K more than mine (used) mine was ~3K and his is easily over 20. =) anyone else got a mustang vs. fbody story?

Yeah i have a 3.1liter firebird one morning after droping my bro off at the bus i went a drove around and drove by a cop in a 2004impala 3.8. he put on his light bamb i floored it he got my tag number and i get a ticket for 120 n a 35 a 150 n a 55 and a 89 n a 55 i dont have my liscense any more but heres my stang vs F-body story we both have V6 engines but i have no nos or turbo he had turbo 5speed with a glass pack muffler and a k&n filter,I have a v6 firebird K&n filter Aem intake tubing,accel racingplugs and wires and distibitour,my heads are shaved and ported and polished,bolra 3inch exhaust pipie and cherry bomb mufflerand ecm mods,but we i was going some where after school runing about 60 he pulls out in front off me and i got pissed so i got up on his as he stomps hes p.o.s. piss off shit,and blue smoke rolls out it so were running about 85 a about to run up on traffic we slow down and then we come on to a 4 lane and stop at the red light.hes reving is up so he can drop the clutch i through mine into nutral and rev it to about 3grand the light turns red he gets me through first because i have streeched gears he in thid im in second im runing 75 it hit 3rd gear than i fucking left him and his pissed off bee sounding Mustang and my cars like 15yrs old his was about 3yrs.I think you could tear a stang a new one if you had about 1000 dollars in your f-body.

Here is a short story. last week l was going to florida for bussines and l had to take my car. it was like 02:00 am in the morning, my friend was sleeping and l was driving like 90 miles an hour. no cop, no other cars.. suddenly a lexus (biiigggg one, like big body mercedeses) it was definetly, 2005 or 2006 it was new. passed me very fast. l was already sleepy and l didnt care. he slowed down and l passed him (l was on cruise control 90 mph.)

then he passed me fast again. he wanted to race, he wanted me to bite him and l did. l hit the gas all the way down and l passed him but WHAAATTTT THEEE FUCCKK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! my car went up to 125 mph. and then automoticly stopped accelerating and shake the car. then he passed me real fast. he was like around 135-140 mph. becaause l was already 125 mph. well, l speed up again and l catched him again but the same thing happened. and l gave up! we went like 20 minutes and l was going like 120 and he was going a little bit faster, l couldnt reach him anymore and then he took an exit and l sadly drove my car to florida.
finally l found out. previous owner stopped gas. the car do not go more than 125 mph. right away l get it fixed.

(NOW THAT GUY IS PROBABLY TALKING AROUND, '' HEY GUYS, YOU KNOW WHAT, YESTERDAY, I KILLED A FIREBIRD FORMULA. IT WAS PIECE OF CAKE, THE GUY COULDNT DRIVE HIS CAR MORE THAN 125 MPH. I GUESS HE DIDNT HAVE BIG ENOUGH BALLS TO GO OVER IT. ITY WAS SO EASY, BLAH BLAH BLAH....''

A Mustang GT will beat a V6 Firebird.

2005+ Mustang GT's will beat LT1 Trans Am's and give a decent run to LS1 Trans Am's.

lol sorry guys, i forgot to mention my formy's a 88. yeah.. >_< its a 3rd generation. its my 2nd car. my third is gonna be a 4th gen WS6 Formy. (im 18 btw) and i bought all my cars by myself.

This 99 mustang GT pulled up to me at a light and started reving the engine, he had an exhaust for sure, pretty damn loud, thinking he could take out my stock ls1...light turned green left him from the start....funny thing, is after slowing down we were on a 2 lane road, and there was a old man heading towards us going the wrong way in his mini van...it was kinda funny after he swerved off the road to get out of our way...

He has an auto, its a 700R4. (Thats what he told me in a PM.)

well, the 150 is possible if rear end gearing is really low?

I have had my 99 T/A LS1 for about 2 months. The first weekend I had it I took it to the strip. I live in tulsa, OK; Its a kinda small town, but there is alot of cocky people around here. So first race I have is with a camaro SS. we take off at about 40, stay head to head the whole time untile traffic catches up, then a cop comes behind me so i turn at the light. turn back around and a group of stang SVTs are in front of me. they all turn around in the Wal-mart parking lot, so I follow. the 3 of them pull out and im at the back. The light ahead turns yellow, the 2 cobras in front go and the one in back stops. Im next to him and we just look at eachother and take off at green. My t/c was still on, we were head to head untile 2nd, then i started pulling on him, got to about 95 and stoped. I was shocked that my car could take a svt, it was only by about 7 feet, but still. It was a older model. All I have on my car is a Cold air package and cat back exhaust, and it is a A4.

I think CObras arent that fast, actually..they only have about 5 more hp than the normal stangs, the only difference is the suspension package..(correct me if im wrong..?)

I also found it odd. I have owned a 95 3.4 Firebird and a 97 3.8 firebird so I can say this from experience. The V6 Firebirds only had speedo's that went to 125. But that's not why I find this so strange. They all came governed from the factory at around 117 mph. So even if you held the pedal to the metal, the fuel will cut out somewhere between 117-120. Main reason for this was because the tires GM put on these cars were only speed rated for 118 mph. I have run my V6 birds to where the governor kicks in so I know what it feels like to hit that "wall".

So yes, I find it very odd in deed.

On the original topic,

I was embarassed at the track once by a very strong 03 Cobra. I ran 13.4 @ 105 to his high 11's @ 115 or something like that. I don't keep my old slips unless it's a new best so I am going off memory. But I remember seeing him cross the finish line shortly after I passed the 1/8th. My face must of looked like :eek:

But I've beaten a few 5.0's and one GT so I guess you just take the good with the bad.

93' Cobra = 235 HP / GT = 205 HP
94-95' Cobra = 240 HP / GT = 215 HP
96-97' Cobra = 305 HP / GT = 215 HP
98' Cobra = 305 HP / GT = 225 HP
99',01' Cobra = 320 HP / GT = 260 HP
03-04' Cobra = 390 HP / GT = 260 HP

mustangs BLOW. I cant tell u how many we have at our school and they think its the fastest car in the lot. But when my trans am pulls in all the confidence seems to disapear. As far as cobras go, yes they are fast....BUT ford needs a SC to beat a car thats already out of production. Go to the mustang sectoin under the thread "ur thought on the 04 cobra." Ppl think cobras are so fast... yeah they prolly are but by how much?? a stock 04 cobra runs in the high 12's. My friends dads ws6 ran 13 flat BONE STOCK (good driver). so the timing isnt off by much. put the same eaton SC in the WS6 and lets see who will win????

I can't get Mustang owners to mess with me, even Cobras. I think the "Formula" sticker on the back bumper scares them. They don't know what it means. The new cobras may shut us all down (well, maybe not Luos), with 500 horse they are going to be tough to beat without a blower or major nitrous.

So i waited and waited the light turned green and i took off i looked next to me and the dude was stayin with me. Sounds like someone got burned by nitrous. There's no way he should have blown you away if you have an LS1 or an LT1. The new Mustang is slow.

If it's an older 5.7 with FI go get a good cam, then get some injectors. :grinyes:

alright alright cut it out I know those firebirds of yours have loads of torque. But you cant possibly tell me that u guys burnt every stang you have raced. Some of these things are fast, but Ford was not smart enough to give the mustang powerful engines like Pontiac and Chevy but you must admit there are some sweet stangs out there somewhere. But I dont think anyone can mess with my stang when its fully completed

about mustangs.. l got 97 formula, and my girl can beat 2004 and less mustang GTs and also 2005 Mustang (not GT) they are not as fast as firebirds..

about cobra, man, turbo supras can fight with them.. l dont think firebirds could beat cobras.. becuase they are special kind of mustangs.. and they have totally different kind of engine then other GT's. also they got SVT SUPERCHARGED COBRA.. oh man.. they are damn fast..

but l am still saying expect cobras, mustangs are not as fast as firebird.. because when l decided to buy a sports car, my wife told me to buy a firebird and l said why? and she said we can get u a mustang if u want to but mustangs are not gonna be as fast as firebirds.. by the way MY WIFE IS WORKING FOR FORD MOTOR COMPANY AS A DELAER OPERATIONS MANAGER.. she knows everything.. and l decided to get a firebird..

supras are actually kinda slow stock for the amount of money you would pay for them. Theyre no match for the s/c cobras. more like the 98 and older cobras, maybe 99-02 mustang cobras.

Don't underestimate the mustang sitting next to you at the light guys. I was completely destroyed by a shitty looking 5.0. Its cheap as hell to make a mustang fast.

Lets not make any excuses that an 03-04 Cobra has a blower. The car came from the factory with small displacement and a blower. GM makes cars N/A with big displacement. Thats how the cars were made so just leave it at that. Thats like the Cobra guys saying we need nitrous to go fast. Power is power...it doesnt matter where it comes from. Also, put yourself in the shoes of a Cobra owner. Would you really complain if GM decided to slap a blower on an f-body? I didn't think so.

yeah, the 94+ is pretty leet..they droppd the displacement but made it higher revvin..OHC engine...imo, its the closest import V8..but hey, if it makes power, id like it :D

yea the 94-99 gt's were faster. 260hp vs. 230. in a lighter car. the car you really want is a 99-2002 Cobra. 4.6 Dohc V8 that redlines at 7200rpm. i owned one and i was running 13.3's with bald tires and a few minor bolt ons. great car.

GTo isn't bad. not in the same price range but it's somewhat of an option for GM buyers.

Man one car i think is really neat these days it the charger srt edition. or even the r/t.. i heard one the other day and the guy got on it and it was nice sounding. real deep and agressive. it sounded fast. plus from what i hear and read they are a 13 second car.

That my friend is my air to air intercooler. I am also running an alky-water injection system(sprays a fine mist of denatured alcohol/water mix(35% alky) into the air intake cooling the charge and adding a bit of fuel). But the engine runs on gas with 60# injectors and more fuel system mods on the way.

How fast are you runnin? A Ford SVT dealer nearby made that injector setup but, they use WINDSHIELD WASHER FLUID. For s/c, turbos, nos. It adds 90hp for about $150! When I first heard about it I thought wow I could put that on my 97 Taurus with 3.0 DOHC 200hp stock.

haha ive heard of water injection, and so i figured it was to cool it down, but why do you need it? i heard most people use water injection because they have a really high compression ratio..or because they're boosting it alot..but i cant find a turbo/super/ram(as if itll do much) on your tag..unless its one of those weird un-intelligible-for-me letter/numbers :] so i was just wondering if you were running an alcohol engine to get more power..since some of the stuff in your tag i understand.. :D

On the Fox body they had 225/55/16 16's on 91-93. Ofcourse in 94 and up you could get 17's and I think they were also 225, but later they got alittle wider. Oh, the 85-90 had 15's.

ohh. so its pretty much the same as the normal camaro/firebirds then..during the time, right? except if they upgraded the f-body to WS6 or IROC or something...
