Hello all. I am going to try to replace the VSS (Vehicle Speed Sensor) myself. It looks like a tough job becuase I have to drop the exhust to access the VSS. Is there anybody here who has done the job, and knows some tricks that can make it a little easier ? Thanks ! PS....I have a 3.8 engine.

This job isn't easy.. I replaced my VSS on my 95. I did it when I did the head gaskets. I do wish I had done it before I put the head back on in the back.
Yes I do believe you need to drop the exhaust crossover pipe. If you have trouble with the nuts on the manifold, use a torch and heat them up and they'll loose their fight. Do make sure you know what you're doing with the tourch. Make sure there isn't any gas fumes around or any other flamable items. There is very little room. I had considered replacing the VSS on my 93 Taurus with a 3.8. I still had the sensor when I got rid of the car. I took the opportuity to put it into my Windstar when I had it appart.
