Lie! Make it up? Why would I lie... I'm only 26, but as a parts manager for freightliner I saw dozens of trucks every day for 3 years. I saw deisels running with acetone. Here's one example online http://peswiki.com/index.php/Directory:Acetone_as_a_Fuel_Additive
why would I lie? to impress people like you? Ha.

I'm sure not calling you a lier, and i don't think that DM did either, but he jjust hasn't heard of any truckers using it. (neither had I either)
I'm using Acetone in my Diesel Topaz, and although I haven't checked my mileage in a comparison yet and I can't until spring since my car is off the road for the winter, I did notice a big difference in power. It came right when I needed it on a road trip too.
I'm hoping that you can send me some links, or better yet get me some written testimonials from some truckers.
I'm updating my web page at this moment, and I'll be adding a secton on increasing fuel economy. Acetone will be in this section.
I'm hoping to get most of the work done on it before the holidays, but it'll be an on going project for the next month or so.
If you don't want them on this public forum I can give you my e-mail address.
Thanks in advance

People... lets not get a war going on here ok. I enjoy reading everyone's opinion on this topic so let's keep it friendly please. Please don't call out members as lying or full of BS. Everyone has their own opinion on what is good and what is bad based on their own individual expieriences. So let us keep it informative and not argumentative, after all AF's mission is to inform and debate about issues related to vehicles with
I worked for Caterpillar and I have my own opinions. I know of the different type of seals CAT uses... there are several... but I can not imagine any rubber material... no matter the duro- or coating holding up to any type of alcohol. Maybe it would make it to a scheduled overhead though. I'm not sure.
I do know that acetone in the cheap auto seals won't make it that long. though.
Just my opinion don't get all bent....

I like the looks of your truck, and I thought that you had a cool old school bus shown somewhere.
I call all cars that get modified toys, and I was hoping that you have a web page of them.

spasticone: read what i said... dont feel like pushing 'go Advance' and get a direct quote, but i said, im not calling you a lier, im not saying your making it up, but (little deeper this time) with 2 family members as once truckers, my boss a former trucker, who now owns a full survice full make shop, we work on ANYTHING with wheels, including semi trucks, and of the doezens that i have seen, i have heard some stories, but using acitone is not one of them... and you said yourselfe some sorcese reccomend a lube in the tank, and suprise suprise they sell it, i was questioning them as the sorce, if on-line marketers are as bad as telemarketers, they will do anything to make the sale, they have familys to feed, and no one would buy their shitty product without their deception... what i was getting at is look a little deeper into what is read, especally online reading... wasnt calling anyone out, and this thread is getting worse then a political discution over some fricken gas additive, and if you want to get down to it, the acitone, being such a good cleaner, is washing down the cyl. walls on new moters/freshly rebuilt ones, causing the rings not to seat as good as quick, kinda like when carboraters were around and the moters didn't last as long becuase the walls were alwase washed clean of its lubracant

Up here in Canada if you don't use diesel additive for a few winters in a row your fuel pump stops working. I understand that the seals dry up.
The summer diesel isn't too bad, just the winter stuff.
Although in reality it probably costs less to have the fuel pump re-built than to keep buying this expensive additve.
But as you both know it's not so much the cost of repairing the truck that kills the owners it's the down time.

acetone is a harsh cleaner, women use it to remove finger nail polish!
gas mileage on my 2000 montana sucks during the winter. but here is an idea!
common sense driving..though that leave you when someone cuts you off!
in the winter here in Ontario...tis damn cold.
I am wondering about a heater coil installed in the cold air intake, similar to a hair dryer coil.
Another Problem is ..the additives in gas during winter...gas line antifreeze>methol hydrate?. Is there chemical that defeats gas line antifreeze. Could that help?
think it through!
or is the the way the engine is designed...if so..I am screwed!
perhaps its back to pre emission controls...get rid of the computer telling the engine what and what not to do! Keep the engine tuned, and practise egg shell driving.:headshake:naughty:
