What kind of gas mileage do you guys get with your LS models? I'm averaging 22 mpg pretty steady highway/city mixed. I wish it was higher , though, like I was told when I bought it :(
I'm thinking about changing the air filter, cleaning the throttle body, and injectors and hoping that makes it improve.
So what do you guys get in your LS models? What year?

'02 Impala 9C1 (police cruiser) with 3.8 motor. All highway miles at average 60-70 mph. I've kept track of the mileage for the last 10,000 miles and it gets 29.4 mpg (Imperial gallon)
Not bad for a big car!

ok the other day i ran 200 kms thats 124.28 miles
i averaged 8 liters per 100 kms
8 ltr's = 2.11 gallons
100 kms = 62.14
so i avg'ed 29.45 miles per gallon not bad EH!!!! now if i were using the canadian gallon 4.54 liters per gallon it would be more like 40 mpg

Amazing! A 40 mpg Impala.....You might have the answer to GM's financial problems sitting right in your driveway! Call them right now and tell them to stop misleading the public with THEIR claim that the Impala gets 29 mpg highway. They might even want to purchase your Impala to dismantle it and find out what makes it SO much more efficient then any other Impala that their engineers have ever designed. ( I would hold out for a million $ if it were my car)
Seriously guy......run the test again...at highway speeds...on a level road (if you're idling down a mountain road with the shifter in neutral it doesn't really count)
Let me know what you come up with ...(eh). :smokin:

well if you have the DIC, just remember that it is not entirely accurate. I reset mine very fill up and check it on a calculator too, my car will say I averaged like 24 MPG, but when I figure it out its like 20. and most of my milage can be considered highway miles. if your that worried about it there a few things to check.
plugs, wires, tire pressure, fuel filter, air filter, possibly cat, and how you drive and how much city you drive

well same here, I havent gotten much better. when I drove the car like a granny and accelerated very slowly and didnt speed and used my cruise even at residentail speeds, I would get like 350 miles out of a tank and only got like 24MPG. its sucks but if I wanted to keep my MPG up I should have kept my old 5-speed 4 banger.

Dude...
The dealer stickers in Canada are based on an Imperial gallon...Transport Canada along with the manufacturer arrive at a city/highway mpg and those are the numbers Canadians see on the window sticker.
Nobody has EVER claimed 40 mpg (except you and now it sounds like you're backing off a bit)
So...back to your claim....You claim 29.45 mpg using a US gallon.....correct? Even if I believed your claim (and I dont) 29.45 X 1.2 = 35 mpg. .....you are still 5 mpg short here...what are YOU smoking??
Do you even own an Impala?....lets see some REAL pics of this bad boy if it exists...not come cartoon wheeled rendition of a "MONSTER" Impala.
Thanks for the laugh..you've made my day!

Oh just to let you know most dealers push the 38 mpg numbers on the impala although its not rated for it it is possible

Do me a favour....Go to YOUR link as given above. Punch in 29.45 mpg US gallon. Now click the button and see that 29.45 mpg (US) is equal to 35.3 mpg (imp). just like I told you. Now, I can see that I've ruffled your feathers a bit (and you gotta know how much amusement I take out of this) but I wont lower myself to your level by calling you names.I just want you to admit to the rest of the readers here that your 40 mpg claim is BS...thats all. Monsta BOY,
I have not been the "ass" in this debate. You have made a claim (40 mpg) that you cant back up. You have been nothing but an idiot all through this debate and from reading your other posts I can see that you are a semi-literate moron (Dude...You can't even compose a sentence!) who makes unreal claims about any subject that you post on. I doubt you work on cars (or even own one) and certainly you have a limited idea about what makes them work. Your cut and paste post with all the mods you intend to do was laughable and when another member questioned you your response was "FUCK OFF".
In the future be careful what you post because there are people here who will call BULLSHIT on you and make you squeal like the little bitch that you are.
By the way...check my avatar.....real close...... Now I've got a little cartoon wheeled Impala beside my posts too!
Back to the sandbox sonny....you have no place here where people actually know cars!
