What's your audio setup?

Hey guys, I was just wondering what you guys all have for audio in your car? Mine is in my siginature. It's fucking loud, fucking clear, and fucking cool. I now work at Best Buy, so I get a hella discount so I'm getting a Sony 4-channel amp for my coaxials and the new Sony Harddisk car stereo for really cheap. After that I'm putting in two 10" Kenwood eXcelon subs. I don't know what amp I want for them yet. So what do you guys have?

This was all installed when I bought the car. If insurance didn't cost so much I would have upgraded to something impressive by now.

- 2 Rockford Fosgate RFP-1212 12" subs (400w RMS each)
- 2 6 1/4" Sony Xplod Speakers(Better than stock, but not much)
- Kenwood KDC-X815 Head Unit (Awsome Head Unit)
- Alpine MRH-F254 Amp (Don't even know the spec's)

Eclipse 6 1/2" F/R powered by Kenwood 4 channel AMP (40x4)
1 x 12" JL Sub powered by Kenwood 1 channel AMP (power?)

I'm looking to upgrade both amps sometime this summer. The MP3 headunit is awesome - at 256 kbps you can fit about 6 to 8 albums on 1 disc and you don't have to worry about having your CDs stolen cuz they're only copies... The Eclipse speakers are not cheap but definitely worth the investment (they need a new amp/more power)...

Dude, Do yourself a favor don't buy Sony stuff... they make great TV's but there car audio stuff Sucks !... we benn selling it for years and it's crap.

I had a sony cd reciever (not xplod) in my old car and it was crap. Also people have been telling me that the xplods are pretty shitty also.

And yes, I know that aiwa is made by sony, but I havent had any problems yet with my x-217 and it was pretty much the least shitty reciever in my price range.

About what is the price range of all that?

I sell car audio stuff, and I can tell you that Sony does NOT suck. Their new Xplod stuff is great, and the ES line is even better. The signal is clear and strong, and for the money there isn't much better. Clarion blows. MTX is ghetto crap.

I actually like my sony deck. It had the features i liked, such as fold down face insted of non-flip down, for under $180. Also it has great sound compared to some other decks i've heard. My friend has a pioneer in one car and a rockford fosgate in the other. they both cost over $300 each and my sound is right up there with them, even though mine is a cheaper deck. older sony xplodes did suck, my friend has one in the car the fosgate is in. but they have improved a lot, thats why i got one.

it's in the sig 6.5 phoenix gold comps up front in kick panels and 6.5's in the back all hooked up to a blauplunk headunit, i should get it amped but well performance is more important and yes i did just get 17's but the performance will be here next week :)

The high end blaupunkt stuff is really good. How do you like those Rated-R rims? I was considering those wheels when I go shopping for rims. I like the simple look of em. My old car had a blaupunkt deck and pioneer premier 6x9 speakers... it was pretty good for being less than 300 bucks.

Just upgraded. Got a Pioneer DEH-P9300 deck with the GEX-P900XM XM Radio receiver and a Terk antenna coming in. Have some crap Kenwood 5.25s in the front and 6.5s in the rear. Also have a MTX 12" sub and Fosgate amp (don't remember what kind off-hand).

Sounds pretty good. Don't need much to get decent sound in a CRX.

Anyone using dynamat or similar products in their Civic/CRX?

I don't think Sony makes bad electronics. I heard some Xplod speakers and they sucked compared to Pioneer, but for Headunits and such I think they are great.

I need to get some new speakers soon, but right now I have:

Jensen 6x9's in back(bostons coming this summer)
And also coming this summer is two Boston 8" subs running off of a Profile 75x2 amp. These will be mounted in custom boxes on either side of the hatch....

kinda like they are now except the box will go down to the floor and the subs will be on the sides facing towards the inside. I've got the boxes almost built I just need to cover them in carpet and put everything in.

Well I am fairly new to this forum, but I bought my 90 hb dx for the single purpose of installing a winning system.
The system install is in progress and pictures have been taken, just not scanned in yet.
Head unit is a Pioneer Premier DEX-P9
DVD source is a Pioneer AVX-P7300DVD
Processor is a Pioneer Premier DEQ-P9
Amplifiers are from an older system.... MTX 225HO, 4200X, and 4300X
Front speakers are from Pioneer Premier TS-T3PRS, TS-M7PRS (2 pair)
Subwoofers are also Premier TS-W12PRS (2)
Wiring and cables are from Stinger
Sound control is from Dynamat
Alarm is DEI
So far the kick panels are progressing nicely. Picks soon, the spare tire well has been glassed for the first time and is ready to be built up for the final layers.
I am building the car from the inside out so I will keep you all posted.
The car will compete in IASCA Pro Street 1-600 watt class.

the best head unit in my opinion is the kenwood head unit and the best subs i have heard are the jl audio's wich is my current set up

i've had a sony deck and my brother had a aiwa deck and we both agree that kenwood is the shiat:smoka:

I install steros for a living, In my 89 HB I have a Eclipse 7002 5.6 inch motorized monitor with a 1/2 din dvd right below it. The In dash 6 disc cd player, a custom fiberglass box in the hatch that houses 6 8606 eclipse subs with 2 ZR 1000 amps mounted behind it, and 1 800x5 eclipse amp for the highs. the tweaters are mounted behind the center vents, 1 10 faraed cap, with a set of eclipse components in the door and another set of the in the kick panels, at the last stereo comp I went to It hit 159 dbs. In the headrests there are monitors also.

i would love to hear your system dude, i would have some comp. i hit 157db last year with 3 kappa perfects now i have 4, and since added polk momo components, im not a big fan of eclipse, there shit is way too overpriced compared to what you get

also i dont care what anyone say. clarion makes some of the best head units in the world, and i do agree that SOME sonys do suck, and that a majority of them are in the xplod series, but thet inexpesive and i guess you get good sound for your money...on another subject....KENWOOD SUCKS!!!! i just got rid of a 500 dollar unit because it sucked so bad, and all i can say about there "XM RADIO" RIP OFF CALLED "SIRUS" it is 100 pecent useless, i would drive under bridges on the highway and it would cut out, id say if your going to get sattalite radio go with xm, it isa very good deal for the money, you get good service, and prompt customer support........END

Eclipse is a very good brand, But you are right you do get what you pay for and you have to rember my headunit to the normal consumer is around 1,200 and I only have to pay around 600

Any suggestions for upgrading my amps? I need to power front/rear Eclipse speakers and 1 12" sub. I'd like to go 4ch and 1ch.

Current set-up: Kenwood 4x35, Kenwood 1x? (small amp, probably <200).

I was thinking 4x50 or 4 x 75 and 1 x 500...

the headunit does it's job and i love the rated-r's go to www.geocities.com/spy54 to see them on my car

A friend of mine has the Rater-R's on his 96 Civic DX and he loves them. They looks pretty tight too. Soon after he got them he had to change his suspension cause they rubbed if he had more than 2 people in the car. (remember, civics usually come with 13's or 14's.)
