Hole in oil pan on 2003 Windstar

My wife ran over a boulder and ripped a couple of holes in the oil pan of our windstar. I'm thinking of doing the work myself and was wondering if the oil pan will come right off or do I need to pull out the engine. I hope I can just drop the oil pan and put on another one along with the rear seal.

Any ideas?

On my 95 I had to drop the exhaust cross over pipe to get the pan off.

I don't think you can put in a rear seal by just dropping the pan. I believe the rear seal is one piece type that requires dropping the tranny.

I would paint the pan with a good quality paint if you drive in a salty condition at all. I've seen two Ford oil pans rust through and leak. My 95's was rusty and I painted it when I had it off.
