1995 SL2 electrical issues.HELP PLEASE!!!

Here's the deal. My car is having intermittent eletrical issues. Sometimes as i'm driving along, it will start driving really rough. If I press the clutch all the way in, the engine will sputter and struggle to stay on. Usually, i have to drop it into a high gear, and get the rpm's way up, then it goes back to normal (for awhile).

Another issue is...while i'm driving, sometimes when i hit the brakes, i get static in the door speakers. On top of that, all the dash lights flash briefly, and the car seems to lose power for a split second. I usually turn it off and right back on to temporarily fix it.

Lastly, today, i was driving along and it just cut out on me all together, (at a busy intersection mind you). I had to push it because it would not even turn over, and no electronics worked. I waited about 5 minutes, then everything suddenly worked again.

HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!

you ether have a bad battery, alternator, or both

I hear of another guy that was have the same kind of problem, he said it turned out to be the battery terminals. He said even though they look good, they weren't making good contact. You might want to check you ground cable. An easy way to check to see if the battery is failing is to connect a high current test light directly to the battery ( brake light bulb ) under the terminal post.Turn on everything, see if the test bulb is going dim. If the bulb stays bright, while the cars electrics are crapping out, you need to check all of main terminal connections. Battery post, chassis grounding post, starter post, etc..

Id go with the battery/alternator like sierrap said. If it makes a clicking noise when you try to start it I would guess the alternator. and since all the problems happen when your driving I would guess the alternator is the problem. the battery is mostly used to start the car and the alternator generates the power after the car has started. but it could be the battery if you turn the key when it wont start and there is no clicky sound.

a new alternator doesnt mean its not the alternator. make sure you got 14 volts or so coming out of it.
