You didn't mention what year model you're asking about ... so I'll answer assuming its similar to my '99:

Piece of cake .... well, allmost. It's certainly easier than it was on some of the old Detroit Irons.

1. Disconnect heater hoses from core ... in the engine bay. I found it easier to remove the wiper arms and the cowling to get access to the rear of the engine.
If needed, you can temporarily connect the hoses to each other ... now you can use the vehicle while continuing the job.
If you have air, blow out the core. If not, stuff rolled-up paper towels in the core pipes. To prevent mess.

2.Remove "belly pan" and heater core. Well, not so fast ... depending on trim level, some stuff is in the way and will have to be removed. I had to remove the radio and the plastic wrap around that is below the radio and heater control area. Includes the ash tray, lighter, etc. Then there a distribution duct that delivers air to the foot area ... that has to go.
The core lays flat in the plastic core cover ("belly pan"). There are about seven screws holding the belly pan up ... a couple are hard to find against the firewall.
DO NOT TRY TO REMOVE "JUST" THE CORE COVER ... the core and cover are to be removed together.

Luck!!
