deletion of u-bend

My father is getting the ravin z33's for his car tomorrow and he is going to delete the u-bend and put a straight pipe instead. Will deleting that u-bend do any change to the car? because it looks like it restricts ALOT of air. Thanks guys

are you talking about the U bend on the exhaust...not familiar with the Z33 thing.....now assuming i know what you are talking about, the ubend on the exhause is where the oxygen sensor is at.

The u bend is there only to give the O2 sensor clearance from the bottom of the car....it doesn't serve a purpose as far as restricting airflow. Just a place for the O2 sensor. You still want that sensor after the converter whether is fitted into a fabricated pipe, or get a simulator and take it off, otherwise you are going to get a service engine light....but it sounds like it's just a muffler that he is putting on....so you won't have any problems.

well actually it is pretty restrictive. heres a pic(you can see where they put the O2 sensor.

I dont' know.....with the new fabricated pipe....the o2 sensor is not really protected.....and easily could be damaged....I would leave the U bend in there...doesn't restrict airflow or change the sound i wouldn't think..but i could be wrong...

well it doesnt much, but then again , just look at it, you can see how that it is a little "crimped", but all you need to do is say screw the sensor and get a O2 simulator.

if you're going to go through that much trouble to replace the pipe why not weld a small sheild to further protect the O2 senser
