attemped imrc repair

my rear one has failed, just for the heck of it I decided to try and fix it. I tore apart the old front one I had saved from a year ago. the diaphram did not seem to have an obvious hole, so i figured it must have been leaking at the seam between two halfs, where diaphram is tucked. I pulled the rear one and applied a little preasure with might-VAC after puting soapy water on seam between halfs. I saw air bubbles and noted location. dried it and put epoxy all around the seam. from the old unit i could tell it was safe to drill a hole into side of plastic part, i did this on opposite side of bubble location, I squirted in some yellow tire leak sealer and tipped the imrc so it would concentrate on location of bubbles. sealed the hole i drilled with epoxy. Now the leak is still there, but not as big, now when I pull a vacume with might-VAC the rod moves and returns, before it wouldn't move at all.
Just a couple of days, so far so good, time will tell.
I think there must be something better than the sealant I used, it is water based and never dries, I should had depressed the diaphram and put some down where the rod comes out as well.
Gravity will pull the sealant away from the seam, so i doubt it will hold a long time.

So I need ideas on
a liquid to put inside the diaphram. I would think something that cures, but remains very flexible. Maybe some liquid electrical tape. I doubt it would eat the diaphram.

Your better off buying a new IMRC

I could be wrong, but if its a vacume diaphram wouldn't you be better off to put the sealer on the outside? I plugged my vacume line & hay wired mine about 3 yrs ago & the van still runs ok. It's against my religion ( I'm a confirmed tightwad) to spend the $200 or so the Ford dealer wanted for a new one.
