My check engine light has been on for awhile... Of course I can't get it expected until the light goes out... I went to Autozone last night and they printed out the following codes..
p1537, p1538, po171, po174
it says on the slip for 1537 and 1538 Intake Manifold Runner Control Bank 1 and bank 2 stuck open..... What does that mean.....

po171, po174 the pcm has determined that during testing, the fuel system for bank 1 and 2 was too lean.... same ? for these 2 codes

I do notice that if the engine is hot or cold when I START IT THE ENGINE RPMS GO UP TO 2 AND STAYS THERE FOR ABOUTA MINUTE AND THEN DROPS DOWN... ALSO WHEN i'M DRIVING IT SEEMS THAT MY ENGINE RPMS ARE HIGHER THEN NORMAL AND SOMETIMES MY TRANNY HITS HARD GOING INTO GEAR BECAUSE OF THAT... ESPICALLY WHEN I STOP AND PROCEED...
ANY INFO ON WHAT IS WRONG AND HOW TO FIX WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED....

Hello GreenMan

I did a web search and found this site that decodes OBDII trouble codes. Check out the site and see what you can fine.

Your year Winnie uses two pneumatic IMRC (Intake Manifold Runner Control) actuators. You will find them on top of the engine kinda over the serpertine belt.

If you do a search on this forum, you should find plenty. Usually this problem is caused when an internal diaphragm breaks on one or both of these actuators. In one little break, you lose both the IMCR .... and you have a heck of a vacuum leak.
