HELP! Need serious help with auto tranny troubles

Ok need some serious help with my daughters hyundai. The car seems to have no 2nd gear and no reverse. You can accelerate in 1st but you need to get the rpm's way up there before it will slam into 2nd or 3rd, whichever, chirping the tires and then it won't upshift anymore. Also like I said there is no reverse. These both started at the same time. the fluid is fine. Please someone tell me that this is an easy fix and won't cost me more then the cars worth.
