accelerate pause?

My car i had no problems with latly but, i noticed when i am going the i punch the gas petal, my car will go little faster but then in about 4 seconds it feels like someone it a nitrous button... Its like a delay and then it takes off... Is this normal or a problem with something

Uh. maybe you could tell some one year and what engine??

2001 chevy impala 3.8 43,000 miles.... i was reading about the car... I want to find out before the warrenty is up.... I will be go 30 mph then if i punch it all the way usually you will hear a cars engine roar but u dont it takes about 4 seconds then it roars and takes off like a bat in hell... i have no idea what it could be

i have a 2001 ls 3.8 and at 44k my cat converter went.Same symptoms that got real bad.

It would do what mine is doing? I just noticed it today i had a empty road never really got to test it out yet so i was going about thirty on that road then just slammed the gas it went little faster didnt hear a big roar, but 4 seconds later u hear the engine roar.... it hesitated

No check engine lites, get it scanned or have the cat checked, using a pressure tester on the o2 sensor port in front of the cat.

ok, i just ordered a new stereo so when i have the stereo unlocked ill have them check everything. What normail milage for the 3.8 in city

well you may have just started noticing it, but that is what many refer to as the 40MPG WOT lag. around 40 at WOT(wide open throttle) there is a lag with our cars. possibly because its right around a gear change in the tranny and the computer has to think about which gear it should go to, but thats just my guess as to why it happens.I think the only thing ive seen to stop this is people adding turbos and having heavy mods done.

but it may be the cat, dont count that out. but it may have always happened and your just noticing it now for some reason.

I notice when I am driving my car will jerk and now it has been the shop for tranmission problems. I brought this car new and it is only a 2001 Impala Ls.I was wondering if any one had this problem with their car.

the only hard jerk i feel is going at a normal pace into second gear

I thought my tranny was gone(jerking and shifting errtic) it was the cat converter

well my car today is at 185 miles and its on 1/4 normal or not? If not what should i have the people look at

if u mean fuel milage.You nee to fill it up and drive about 200 miles and fill it up again.Divide milage by gallons and see what milage you come up with.Mine gets around 25 mpg combined .Best is 27.5 hwy. 22 city

The dealer can test it.But also after a long drive at night if it is glowing red it is plugged

Another thing i noticed going into my car it smells like a perm if you ever smelled that before just noticed it.... cant tell where its coming from

maybe its the carpet cleaner i used then i put rubber floor mats down? maybe didnt draw, checked and they are dry?!?!

i think it is my cat today i had it in neutral and i raved the engine and it doesnt make a clear throttle sounds like something i clogged!! good thing i have a warrenty

forget about the throttle sound that normal, but i just put $20 in for gas it was between 1/4 to E with only 198 miles calling the dealership i just got it from i dont think this is normal mileage i got this in my chevy blazer and thats why i got rid of it

gas mileages are quite varying among people. Me and a few colleagues drive impala, i only got 17 mpg city, pretty low, but not the worst among us. many guys on those forums mentioned much higher mpg. My 01 base has loud air sucking noise at acceleration, very much like cat is plugged or something else wrong. While checked by a 2 delaers and one mechanic, all say normal, no problem.

Well i had my mom call today while i had class, the dealership is charging me $35+tax to get my stereo unlocked. And $79.99 IF it isnt my cat, the guy told my mom something about scanning it with the dinostic computer, she cant remember what about it ! I brought it to autozone today to get a free read the guy told me that it passed but if the cat is getting blocked it wont come up on the computer that the only thing that will come up is a O2 sensor is bad... he asked me if i smell rotted eggs at all i said ya when i get into my car it last a cople of seconds, and he asked if i am getting bad mileage i said ya he said it probly is the cat hes 95% sure

spend 500 and buy a superchips power programmer it removes the 40 mph WOT lag

what ever is wrong with my car its getting worse by the day more hesitation

Its your cat.And it will get worse b4 it gets better.
